A man in his 30s jumped to his death from the 13th floor of a condominium in Tokyo after stabbing his wife, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Friday in Koto Ward. Fuji TV reported that a passerby saw a man jump from the balcony of an apartment. Police said the man was a public servant and the 36-story condo was for government employees.
Police said they were already on their way to the apartment after receiving a call from the woman who said her husband was going to kill her.
Police found the man's wife on the balcony, with her hands and feet bound. She had been stabbed but her condition is not life-threatening, police said Saturday. She was quoted as saying she and her husband had argued over separating.

We do not know what she may have done or been doing to him. Still, what he did to her was wrong and what he did to himself was wrong too. He should have done away with himself in a way that would have caused the least inconvenience to others, for example going out to sea on a boat with a rucksack laden with stones firmly fixed to himself and jumping off when no one is looking. This is not the case if there are children but none have been mentioned.

Your comment seems to suggest that by definition, marriage in Japan must be to someone who is mentally unstable. That's absurd. Fearful anticipation of murderous violence in the face of an impending divorce is most certainly not high on the list of reasons people don't get married. The stress, pressures, and fears that drove this man to commit violence against someone he ostensibly loved almost certainly came after the marriage.

@David Blue is right, it will take a long time to recover from this. And, unfortunately, when it comes to counselling and those sort of services, Japan can be hit or miss. I do hope she is able to find the right assistance to deal with all of the feelings that she must be dealing with now.

I am so grad that wife will be ok for a while! But she definitely needs a lot time to heal from this nightmare , physically and mentally. I wonder , does she still have to face ex- husband's funeral? Look, husband did commit a crime of attempt murder in fact.
