A 40-year-old man, who has been on a nationwide wanted list for two knife attacks in Osaka and Kyoto, was arrested in Ageo City, Saitama Prefecture, early Friday. Police said that Atsushi Ishizu, 40, was arrested around 1 a.m. for allegedly assaulting two teenage boys near his apartment in Hirakata, Osaka, around 8 p.m. on May 14. Ishizu was also wanted by police after allegedly stabbing a woman, 45, with two knives in Kyoto on May 21, and stealing 120,000 yen from her.

Police said a patrol spotted Ishizu riding a bicycle on a street in Ageo and stopped him. Police said he was carrying two knives at the time of his arrest. His driver's license was found at the scene of the crime in Kyoto. The suspect has admitted to the allegations, police said.

J-cops are real good at bicycle busts. I reckon that they were just hassling an unlucky cyclist and got lucky rather than actually recognizing the guy

I agree with that one (romulus3), they just got lucky. Good to know they actually have someone they've been looking for. Streets are some what safer now.

Is there a factory where these loonies are made? Is it just me or does this goon look like the newspaper delivery guy who killed the 1st year elementary school girl a couple of years ago?

Wonders never cease!

I'm sure the cops will be able to take advantage of this and beat out one or two more confessions out of the guy.

His driver’s license was found at the scene of the crime in Kyoto.

[Investigating police, inspecting said item]: "Hmmmm...I wonder if this could be a clue...hmmm...the victim was a woman, but this is clearly a man's driver's license...hmmm..."

I almost bought a business in Saitama...but it seems like there is more crime in that city than anywhere else in Japan! Glad I reconsidered.

What about the Kyoto Seika University student who was stabbed riding his bicycle in Iwakura? in the north of Kyoto City last year. I wonder if this creep did it?

I wonder how he caught up to his victims. That dude is one META-BO guy.

They had his drivers liscense....and it took them this long to catch him? riding his bicycle? The dude had an apartment? They need a Japanese most wanted TV show.
