A 40-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 23-year-old beautician in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 2016, at the opening session of his trial.
In its opening statement at the Yokohama District Court, the prosecution that Toru Murakami, was in a relationship with Kana Ofuji, and killed her because she wanted to break off their relationship, Fuji TV reported.
Ofuji’s body was found on June 8, 2016, by a co-worker after she failed to show up for work for two days. The door to her apartment was not locked. Ofuji's body was lying face-up on a sofa, with the lower half of her body covered by a blanket. An autopsy revealed she had been strangled to death by a thin cord.
Prosecutors said
Murakami's fingerprints were found in Ofuji's apartment. He has denied killing Ofuji but admitted he did know her.
In 2016, Murakami was working as truck driver, based in Sapporo, and said that he made several trips to Kanagawa as part of his job. He was arrested Sapporo in February 2017

This poor woman, Ms Ofuji, met a terrible end - unimaginable fear.
Killed by some pathetic POS who I hope gets to serve all the time she lost, in prison.

Guilty before the trial is even complete.
Such is JT.

@Strnagerland, I think the 'guilty before the trial is even complete', isn't such a JT thing as it is many commenters' thoughtless prognostications.

If he is held in a j police station and interrogated, and doesn’t plead guilty, i think we should wait for the truth.

Nobody here seems to give a damn in your comments that a woman was brutally murdered.
Yubaru
If? He is, and if the police dont have more than finger prints in the apartment evidence and no confession he could get off.
Yes people care, but one, people are unwilling to convict someone prior to the trial, two, this happened over two years ago and if I recall correctly there was an article here regarding this case, and three, people are getting numb to seeing stories like this.
You seem to have already made up your mind about this suspect, so what does that say about you?
Strangerland
My comment did not in any way indicate how I feel about the woman being brutally murdered, much less expressing that I don't give a damn about it.
So whom exactly are you referring to?
Maria
@Yubaru:
Where have I said anything about this suspect? Nowhere.
But unless you are saying that Ms Ofuji killed herself, then someone murdered her, and that person deserves prison.
Yubaru
Right, I get it, plausible deniability, nicely done, you win.
Do the hustle
Motive, intent and placed at the scene. His not guilty plea seems pretty flimsy.
Shenjingbing
Seems plausable. I'm sure he's innocent.

I will bet dollars to Donuts that he's the guy who did it, but if the only evidence they have is his fingerprints in the apartment of a woman with whom it's known he was having a relationship, that's pretty weak.
