A 33-year-old man who was arrested for breaking into an apartment in Tokyo's Adachi Ward on Aug 2 and stealing 240,000 yen in cash and five watches, including a Rolex, worth 1.7 million yen, is being questioned over 130 similar cases in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture since February.
According to police, Hirotaka Sugawara, who works as a cleaner at a building in Adachi Ward, has admitted to robbing the apartment on Aug 2 and was quoted by police as saying he needed money for fun, TV Asahi reported.
Police said Sugawara would break into apartments and leave the bath water running and then leave on his father's electric bicycle.
Police suspect Sugawara of using the same MO in at least 130 other thefts, netting a haul worth about 33 million yen.

Another import to Japan, the feeling of entitlement.
33 million yen?! Wow that's a hell of a lot of soapies and pachinko, maybe ponies too!

Breaking in is one thing, but leaving the bath water running? What a d*ck.

you need to relearn what the word entitlement means. if he really felt like that, he would just live off the dole and not go out and steal. he's actually being proactive about getting money--unfortunately, in an illegal manner.

Interesting statement. Finally, a guy saying he wasn't stressed out. In fact, the opposite. I'm all for a little fun, but I would never steal in order to fund it.

How nice of him to leave such a unique calling card. Make it nice and easy for the police to pin all the robberies on him. Moron.

Great that the police nabbed him so quickly!
