Police in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward have arrested an unemployed 39-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting and stealing money from a woman whom he met through an online dating site.
According to police, the suspect, Takashi Shimazu, met up with the 26-year-old woman and they went to a hotel in Shibuya last November, Fuji TV reported. Police said Shimazu chocked the woman until she started to pass out. However, the woman regained consciousness and went after Shimazu who left the room with her wallet that had 200,000 yen in cash. He then hit her and pushed her away.
Shimazu was quoted by police as saying he was heavily in debt. He said he liked the woman and wanted to date her but got upset when she asked him for money.© Japan Today
