Man robs dry cleaner of Y70,000; gets away on bicycle

A man robbed a dry cleaner in the town of Kumatori Wednesday, thrusting a replica gun at the female cashier, 44, and making off with around 70,000 yen in cash. The man was chased by another female employee, 59, but he punched her and rode away on a bicycle. The woman sustained minor injuries.

The suspect was described as being between 40 to 50 years old and about 165 cm tall. He was wearing a black knit hat, black jacket and pants. A piece of the replica gun was found in front of the dry cleaner, and police believe the man dropped it while he was running away.

Y70,000 cash at dry cleaner's shop in Osaka? Hard to believe.

It's time Japan got with other countries and made it mandatory that all toys and replica guns/weapons have bright orange/red identifiable parts. Sure, you can mask them, but I've seen cheap toys in kids' stores that look extremely real. And the guy got away on a bicycle?? Come on.

"he punched her"

If he's ever caught, I hope she gets the chance to punch him.

Spit change, but I guess he can buy a lot of those fake beers with it.

See the story above about the yet unformed (?) DNA centre! Will they find this guy's? Doubt it.

why is this on the news? it is small cash, a fake gun and it was in Osaka. Slow day huh?

assault charges will probably weigh heavier on the suspect than the robbery. They don't like assault in Japan...believe you me, I know. ;-)

Instead of chasing him, shouldn't she have thrown a wooden hanger at him like a boomerang?

Too bad the woman who had her purse snatched and rode down the perp on her bicycle wasn't there to intervene.
