A man slashed an employee of an internet cafe and stole about 300,000 yen in Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward, police said Wednesday.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the cafe on the 4th floor of a commercial building. There was no one else in the cafe at the time, Sankei Shimbun reported. The assailant threatened the employee, a man in his 50s, who was in the kitchen, with a knife and ordered him to open the safe. He slashed the man in the shoulder and thigh and fled with about 300,000 yen.
The employee was found lying on the floor, bleeding from his wound, by a co-worker who had returned to pick up something he had forgotten. Police said the victim was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition.

Attempted murder. I hope the pods catch him. Hint...he must be local to know the cafe...try not to take 3 months. 300,000yen does not buy much drugs or pachinko. He got away, so this nutcase will do it again.

Note: In line 2, "Bunko Ward" should be "Bunkyo Ward". There is no "Bunko" ward.
Moderator: The typo has been fixed. Thank you.

The man committed the robbery in a very heavy-handed way. Yes, it was very lucky the co-worker happened to come back. Hope the police net the robber ASAP.

That was a violent robbery, unusual for Japan. I hope they catch the perp soon.

@WilliB "That was a violent robbery, unusual for Japan." Bunkyo-ku, is viewed as a rather calm area, upscale houses, and with many nursery, elementary, high schools, and colleges. I agree too; its rather unusual for such.

a Japanese website indicated it happened in the Yushima area of Bunkyo-ku
