Now THIS shows what happens when education is in decline, I'm afraid. Using a knife, threatening someone... these are things that will get you thrown in jail for a very, very long time. And for what? The cash in a conveni? Pathetic. If you're going to be a respectable thief, then you need to set much higher goals for yourself.

"threatened the 43-year-old male employee with a knife"

What! Still no knife control in this country? What gives?

"If you're going to be a respectable thief,"

There is no such thing as a respectable thief. But...

Detective Masahiro Matsumoto, Osaka Prefectural Police: Theft is theft. There is no gray area."

Detective Nick Conklin, New York City Police: Hey, Masu, New York is one big gray area, OK?"

Wow, convenience store robbery making national news. Back west this might barely make local city news Got to love the safety of Japan. And even in Japan crime rates are still going down.

Back in L.A., this type of news appears in the miscellaneous portion near the back of the paper if at all.
