Police have arrested an unemployed 43-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he shoved his 55-year-old girlfriend into the sea at Yamashita Park in Yokohama's waterfront area.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Monday. Fuji TV quoted police as saying that the suspect, Yasuo Seki, got into an argument with his girlfriend and then pushed her into the sea.

The woman was rescued by a passerby who threw her a rope and was unharmed, harbor police said. Seki has admitted to the charge and said he pushed the woman into the sea with the intention of killing her.

Not the brightest trying to murder someone in the middle of the day in a popular park. And no, he is not young.

But to tell them he had the intention of killing her!?

After how many hours enjoying their hospitality?

OK...tell the cops you had an argument and pushed her into the sea in a state of jealous rage.

But to tell them he had the intention of killing her!?

Well that changes things significantly. Talk about putting yourself in the brown and smelly!!

But then again...did he really say that?

The icing on the cake...all neat and tidy.

Sounds like he's completely crazy. I live close to Yamashita Park and it's only about a 4 or 5 foot drop over the railing and into the water. Nobody in their right mind would imagine that this would be a good way to kill someone, even someone who can't swim.

Fun Fact: Yamashita Park is built on the rubble that was dumped into the sea after the 1923 Kanto earthquake.

That'll be the end of the relationship.

I bet they get back together.

Were they drinking heavily?

That's one way to........give her the push. Poor woman.

What was the argument about?

Must have been a pretty serious/hot topic (probably the last G7 summit or a disagreement about Abe's handling of the Kumamoto quakes). Or the shooting of the gorilla.

She certainly did PUSH all his buttons though.

At first I was like wtf is this story how would she die by falling into the sea, but then saw her age. Even then this is an all-round absurd incident

She needs to give him the heave-ho.

Yikes... my doctor is nearby. It's a beautiful area, not much to be associated with this type of stupidity.

What an ijime plick! Lock him up for a long long time!

WTH!! I guess this old geezer has been watching all those cop drama's where they all end up at the Sea (or bridge, river, cliff) standing around in weird spacing each spewing a pile of verbal garbage, usually one person with a knife...........

Except this guy actually tossing the victim into the drink, what a LOSER!!!

Women' mind will never change, no matter how old she gets.

His attorney should be able to get the charge reduced on diminished capacity - it was clearly not premeditated, as the guy seems incapable of thought.

Some people just can't be alone so they take up with any old scumbag

He needs an anger management. The society should give privilege to communication instead of "gaman".

Weird news.....

GW... old geezer? He's 43... how is that old?

I'm happy the woman is safe... clearly this bloke is in need of a swift dropkick into the sea... see how he likes it.

Maybe he is just angry that she is 12 years older than him?

Seki has admitted to the charge and said he pushed the woman into the sea with the intention of killing her.

With his own self-preservation at risk, why would he be so honest?

... i guess they are no longer together then.. :p

"Now will you go out with me, god damn it?!"

I feel so bad for the lady. I hope she leaves him and finds a good man around her own age.

Females can say some pretty nasty things sometimes. That being said, this guy seems old enough to keep his cool. Maybe he should have just said that he was drunk and didn't remember anything?

Human Train Wreck.... both of them. 43 versus 55? Ewwww....(barf)
