Police in Tokyo have arrested an unemployed 48-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he slashed a 47-year-old woman with a knife outside a bar on Saturday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. in Suginami Ward, Fuji TV reported. Witnesses told police the man and woman were arguing in the bar and when the woman left, he followed her.
Police said the man, identified as Kentaro Yamaoka, accosted the woman outside and slashed her on the cheek below her right eye.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment but is in no danger, police said.
Police said Yamaoka and the woman had known each other for about 10 years through their association in a music group. He was quoted as saying he wanted to blind the woman because he was angry at her for stealing a piece of music he composed.© Japan Today
