Yet another random violent crime, nowhere is safe.
garypen
It sounds more like a specifically targeted, violent crime.

This is an interesting story. It makes one wonder if the intruders brought the knife with them or if it was from the homeowner's kitchen.

I think they know each other. He would have woke up his wife first if those men were intruders
Strangerland
Or maybe, and I know this will surprise you, maybe he wouldn't have.

We do not know if it was a random. And no place on the planet or in the universe is absolutely "safe".
NOMINATION
It reminds me when my apartment was broken into along with 10 other apartments in my building. The person knived his way through the crappy lock and carved out a few of my aluminum coin banks. Who knows how the person who have used the knife if I were home and/or walked in on them.

I thought there might be an update giving more details on the two men; if there were in fact two intruders.

Can you write Kita-Senju instead of “Adachi-Ku”, or, actually TELL us where.
hooktrunk2
Kita-Senju is IN Adachi-ku. JT never reports where exactly it happens. You need to visit TBS or some other news site in Japanese to get more specific info.

@WA4TKG
It happened in Minamihanahata 足立区南花畑. A couple blocks from my kids former elementary school and almost next to a Koban. Here to be precise: https://goo.gl/maps/v257NGPo2rW14SRHA
