Man stabbed in possible dispute over son's girlfriend

Kochi prefectural police are investigating an incident involving a man who sustained severe injuries after being stabbed several times in the abdomen. Police said they believe the attack is linked to a dispute the victim was having with another man over their children dating.

TBS quoted police as saying the incident occurred at around 9 p.m. in the city of Tosa. The suspect, identified as Satoshi Shikiji, 43, approached his 49-year-old acquaintance on the street and repeatedly stabbed him in the abdomen and elsewhere before fleeing. A few hours later at around 2 a.m., police arrested Shikiji only 850 meters away from the scene of the crime.

Although Shikiji has remained quiet since his arrest, police said that he was apparently upset that his daughter and the victim's son had been dating and were discussing marriage. Furthermore, Shikiji stabbed the victim at the place where he was scheduled to be introduced to his daughter's boyfriend.

If he was it would end in bowing and a suspended sentence...

Was there a little more to this story? Like his daughter was being raped or abused by the new boyfriend/ his family and brainwashed into getting married and he wanted to protect her? Or some petty jealous feud from the past exacerbated by the romance?

Or just what it seems on the surface- banal conservative small minded inaka politics?

The assailant sounds like an utter TOSA if you ask me.

Well I guess he got his wish, doubt they will marry now.

Most of your scenarios would result in the boyfriend being the target of the stabbing, not the boyfriend's father.

Over protective father?

Wait until they become in-laws, then the real fighting begins! On a serious note, let's hope the victim has a speedy recovery.

Stupid jerkoff....Why is it his business who his daughter marries. If she is a legal adult, its her choice, not his. This would definitely put a rift in the couple's relationship (which was probably his intent)...really sad and pathetic little coward.

Fadamor, well not if it was the father in law abusing her or pulling the strings, or if the girl's father thought that as the father of the boyfriend this guy was responsible for anything bad the boyfriend was doing, which some conservative areas think like, or if there was a previous long-simmering feud between them etc etc. People do and think some weird things.

The normal bowing and saying sorry will not happen in this matter.

prescient observation, bear!

Attempted murder charge will stand beside many more for stabbing. It is in LEA hand, What? bowing and say sorry? Not in a criminal court. Japan has laws. Beside that, revenge is more custom than bowing and saying sorry in Japan for generations. Remind you, Japan was the country of harakiri and uchikubi until it was civilizeda couple hundred years ago. Why none Japanese people insist bowing and saying sorry is Japanese custom, puzzles us Japanese who grew in Japan.
