Man fatally stabbed on street in Tokyo's Shinjuku area

A 68-year-old company executive was fatally stabbed by a male relative on a street in Shinjuku on Monday morning. After stabbing the man, the relative went to a nearby police box and turned himself in, police said Tuesday.

TBS reported that at around 9:30 am, Shinjuku police received a call saying that two men were having an argument. When police arrived at the scene, they found Kazuo Ishihara, who had stumbled into a nearby bank looking for help and was collapsed on the floor, bleeding from stab wounds in the back. He was rushed to hospital, but died six hours later, police said.

The assailant fled the scene, but turned himself in at a police box in Suginami Ward where he was arrested. Police identified him as Tsutomu Sato, 66. Sato was quoted as saying "Ishihara had been making fun of me. I just snapped and stabbed him."

Police said Sato was a member of Ishihara's extended family.

“Ishihara had been making fun of me. I just snapped and stabbed him.”

The geriatric crime wave continues!

Looks as though stabby season is sadly continuing. RIP to the poor old man. Lets hope his killer cops 20+ years.

68 and 66. Bully and the bullied who loses it? Or regular guy and a paranoid nutter who loses it. I guess that's up to the judges and jury.

Obviously need a law banning knife possession by 60-something Japanese men.

Here's me hoping the stabbee's first name would be Shintarou................

Stabby summer does seem to have started. Be careful everyone, avoid arguments with strangers.

Just snapped did he, and in the process conjured a knife out of thin air to stab his relative?

It would apprear this happened right in front of the Fresheness Burger near Shinjuku Gyoen. At 9:am, there wouldn't be much open yet, besides the bank.

Seems that it's a trend that anyone carries a knife so that if somebody makes fun of him, he can stab them.

Like that gossip case from the other day.

OK clear so Its not YAKUZA vs Triad

Choose your words carefully because you never know people can snap on a bad day. Clearly there is no winner here very sad case.

You shouldn't make fun of people

At least he had the decency to turn himself in.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Geeze if I stabbed everyone that made fun of me! Get some big ones and get over it.

" You shouldn't make fun of people"

This is true, but violently attacking the verbal offender is never the answer.

What a backstabber. Atleast he got his point across.

After working for an extended family.... I understand. Bullying is at all levels.

Arguments are fine. I understand things can get heated. What I can't understand is the ever present insecurity of many Japanese males. Seemingly unable to connect the dots, they react to trivial problems with ridiculous things like stabbings over an argument. No person with a healthy dose of self-confidence (or sanity) does such a thing. Perhaps if they all learned to use their mouths and argue like a boss, the stabbings would subside, what do I know?

One thing that I find unusual about (media-reported) crime in Japan is, how many of the perpetrators are 60+. What's the opposite term of "juvenile delinquent?"

"I just snapped and stabbed him.”

He must have been stressed out.

People without an agenda in life are prone to quick agendas when in anger.

" Obviously need a law banning knife possession by 60-something Japanese men."

Oh, did I hit someone's hypocritical nerve?

People will do equally brutal acts with whatever means, including bats, golf clubs, pipes, and yes even bronze busts. The point is not to place blame on the object, but on the person's violent outburst. The violent outburst is the crime.

What's the opposite term of "juvenile delinquent"?

Senile delinquent?

I have to agree with JohnGalt on his point. The crime itself is violence, and the weapon is tertiary to motive.

He was making fun of me so I stabbed him!!! WTF grow up JP men!!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

What is wrong with these people. Try using your fist for a change.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Why are these people running around armed with knives? Pathetic.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

How long was the victim making fun of the perp? 5 minutes? Since childhood?

Though homicide is never justified, some people seem to delight in psychological murder.
