What a terrible story - it's hard, but unavoidable, to imagine the last minutes of the poor mother and son's lives. What the daughter must have seen, too. Oy. The man must've just completely cracked.

Beyond words...

" Domestic violence is not a result of stress or unhappiness"

"Power Assertive Behavior – Using aggression to restore an offender’s self-confidence, authority, and control."

"Personality Disorder"

"Blitz Attack – The delivery of overpowering force, usually performed in a manner of surprise so as to incapacitate a victim or deliver a death blow."

Wow. Just horrible.

Tamesu san not too sure why you feel the need to post all of that info, already people have been killed, do we want to let others know of more ways to kill?? By the way, a few months ago I had to make a tv cm for chocolates and I was using one of this pick axes all day for this tv job, a real one, real heavy! One of the young Japanese dudes on the set was trying to fix something where I am picking away at a cave full of chocolate, but this idiot almost put his HEAD between my pick ax and the floor, if I would have hit him in his head with the pointy part of the pick ax?? It would have been awful! If the good people up in Hokkaido have time and you see a tv cm with about 6 different versions of myself at the same time that it me. But back to this horrible story, I guess the pick ax is actually a very effective way to kill some one, nice and heavy and with that sharp part, it will go right through your brains, I guess, I just hope these people did not suffer too much. RIP poor victims??

I guess he felt he needed the insurance money, what a Horrible man RIP Mother and Son.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

interesting to note that he didn't try to take his own life, which one would expect. awful story to start my day off...once again. RIP.

And ued think a fathers role is to protect his family. He should be stripped off of that title. In fact, doesnt deserve the ¨man¨ title. Should read, monster kills son and wife.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

There is no difference between an axe handle and a pickaxe handle. Therefore, we just say axe handle. Use of the word pickaxe seems to be a sad attempt to sensationalize the story.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I can not understand these dudes that kill off their families, he should have just tried to kill himself off with them pick axes with his own head first!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I found Tamesu-san's info very helpful. It basically states that violence is not committed due to stress but due to some underlying personality problems. In other words, this man that committed the violence was not because of stress, (or just stress) but because he needed to feel in control.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The length of the pickaxe was 90cm according to the news.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I really doubt that Japanese fathers commit this kind of horrible violence because they feel impotent in their families, and wanting to feel important, say, ok, I am going to show them who the real boss and, and whack, whack whack off with their heads, if you know any Japanese the Japanese news said this dude had lots and lots of financial DEBT, this guy could not pay $$$$ his loans, etc..he wanted to put his family out of their misery for being too poor, which is something very basic in Japanese culture. No $$$$ ok, time to suicide and try again in your next life time kind of mentality.

So he will be on death row forever, with no one showing up to watch when he finally gets hung.

At first when I saw this I thought - why would he kill his whole family instead of just killing himself? Then I realized that in Japan that if the the father or mother in a family cannot pay off their debts it is inherited by the spouse and then the offspring. I suppose in his crazed and desperate state he thought he was doing the right thing by saving his family from being poor for the rest of their lives due to his mistakes. So barbaric though.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yes Livvie, crazed and desperate most likely and at the end his wits, saw the only chance to escape as killing off his family, very very sad indeed! RIP

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Wow, gruesome. What kind of troglodyte would think like that. Murdering his children because of his debt? Wth?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Whoa!! Pick axe? I'm glad I'm not in a job field where I'd have to see/find the bodies.

This guy has got some issues. RIP son and wife.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Shinomoto, Killing your family does not result in debt forgiviness, as well you know, insurance companies are extremely unlikely to reward you for murder. You murdered your wife and son in a cruel and sadistic way and your daughter is lucky to have survived . You think the inability to pay your debts are a problem, well I certainly wouldnt like to be in your shoes now. RIP your wife and son and I hope your daughter will get all the support she is going to need to get over this

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"You think the inability to pay your debts are a problem"

ESPECIALLY if they were gambling debts, soapland runs, love hotel runs, outcall services, health massages, karaoke, drinking bars, clubs, izakaiyas etc- and forbid if he was one of the squeezed to foot the bills by the ruling party of his socially chattelized group

Immature, spoiled, selfish ... common traits in domesticus japanilius maleius (?) Elbuda I'm with you amigo.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

this story seems like a horror movie that borrowed an element or two from Stephen King's The Shining =/

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Geez...if money debt is your only problem you have no problems. There are a lot of worse things that can happen to you.....as I'm sure this guy will find out in the coming years behind bars.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

AFP is merely reporting the details they received from whatever there source was, but... how do you bludgeon an entire family to death while they're sleeping??? You'd think it would make a bit of noise -- especially if it was enough to get the neighbors called to the house.

Regarding the death penalty, when its applied, its usually applied over particularly gruesome crimes, mass murder in particular... Killing a wife and kid might warrant it...

If the guy was heavily indebted it is possible that Sarakin were trying to convince HIM to kill himself so the insurance would pay off... and, in going over the edge he decided to be spiteful -- wild speculation, of course.

True, when it comes to the corrupted Japanese judicial system. The guy will get the court's sympathy and leniency. Worst case scenario? Acquittal over temporary Insanity.

OK, I know what he means now, still, there have been "some" special in-family murders where the killers where NOT given the death penalty. I'm not for the death penalty of course, and people know I don't support the death penalty. I just really hope this "monster" is given life in prison, but we all know that's not gonna happen.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sorry BlueWitch,

Life in prison will not happen because such sentence does not exist in Japan. What Japan has is mukichoueki which some legal experts have referred to as de facto life sentence without parole.

A few examples of in family murders that resulted in mukichoueki.

淀川妻子3人 殺害、千葉柏市家族4人殺害、岐阜中津川家族6人殺傷、etc

No country is perfect, not even Japan, and this is just a stupid and horrible thing to do, let alone to your own family, so chop this guy up slowly, and nice slow painful death, let him suffer a few weeks, then feed him to hungry gators as they would back in Florida. RIP dead family

Now...a solo survivor (daughter) to live (and tell, if you may) such a horrifying story!! How tragic....Gosh, can't imagine her mental state now!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He deserves to rot in jail.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It must be horrible that the guy she married went and killed her and their children its like you wake up and then being beat to death by something and its your own father.
