Police said Wednesday they have arrested a 20-year-old man in Sakado, Saitama Prefecture, after he allegedly attempted to murder his ex-girlfriend by dragging her with him into the path of a moving train.
University student Tokiya Yamada is accused of approaching his ex-girlfriend at Wakaba Station, seizing her from behind and jumping off the platform with her as an incoming train approached on Jan 21, TBS reported. The train slowed down but still hit the pair. The girl sustained serious internal injuries, while Yamada also sustained several injuries, including a broken arm, police were quoted as saying.
According to police, Yamada has admitted to grabbing his ex-girlfriend but denied any intent to murder her. Police say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led up to the incident.© Japan Today
