Man turns himself in, saying he killed his mother, dumped her body in mountains

Police in Sapporo said that a 42-year-old unemployed man turned himself in at a police station and confessed to killing his mother and dumping her body in a mountainous area.

According to police, Yusuke Sugimura went to a police station in Sapporo’s Higashi Ward on Thursday afternoon and said he had killed his mother who lived in the town of Tobetsu, on Aug 16, Fuji TV reported. He told police he had taken her body and dropped it from an overpass into a thick grassy area 10 meters below.

Police arrested Sugimura on Friday after finding his mother’s decaying body. No information was given on how the woman, who was in her 70s, died.

Police quoted Sugimura, who lived with his mother, as saying he turned himself in because he was running out of money and didn't know what else to do.

A person unwilling to work anything productive does not deserve a basic living income paid by working tax payers.

Right-wingers would rather spend more on enforcement systems to make sure no one ever get anything they didn't work for, than come up with efficient systems that create better societies. Then they look down their nose at everyone else, as if they knew what they were talking about.

Universal Basic income is a necessary thing. 10 to 20% would be a good start. Not Enough to live on, but Enough to save each year to invest, take a vacation, do something new with your life.

The basic pension, which people pay into for 40 years of their life, delivers around a cool 80万 a year. A UBI, if they ever got around to introducing one, presumably the last country in the world to do so, would surely be far less than the ‘generous’ 国民年金. You’d be lucky to get 十万円 (their most recent favourite number) which, once you factor in the additional taxes they’ll impose, will leave you with just a few coins to throw into the offertory box at the annual shrine visit. Or perhaps enough for a 年末ジャンボ flutter.

A man kills is mom and dumps her in the mountains and people are talking about how he should have been able to comfortably off the tax payers dime. Take a minute to absorb that...

Sad. RIP. - Japan is still relatively safe, so to speak. - It appears it is ‘family’, ‘common-law’ relations & ‘acquaintances’ with whom Japanese people really have to worry. Another’ in the rash of “inter-family” violence AND financial desperation in the J news lately:

“68-yr-old man arrested over death of woman he lived with” Sep. 2, 2021

“Man killed 92-yr-old woman he knew, stealing ¥ from her” Sep. 1, ‘21

The following from Sep 3 is under investigation and the culprit is still “to be determined”.

Well, I mean obviously going to jail is going to make him a rich man.

This rising problem has got to be attributable in part to the series of SOEs and lack of jobs in Japan

42yo and living with mommy? What, she refused to give him money for booze and smokes?

Money is necessary to follow your dreams or to try something different. Universal Basic Income should be part of a human right.

If tomorrow a war happens.... Your country can call your name. To fight. Sacrifice. Die for the country.

UBI is not free. Is the resources a person deserves if you expect me to die for my country when the time comes.

Normally they all try it with smaller crimes like shoplifting and such. And the real tragedy now is, that even such a killing crime under such intentions fully works. He is now probably fully pampered in prison and gets even some money there.

A guaranteed basic living wage income, for everybody, would stop all this.

A person unwilling to work anything productive does not deserve a basic living income paid by working tax payers.
