The Kumamoto District Public Prosecutors Office has decided to have a 52-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder undergo two months of psychiatric tests to determine if he is mentally fit to stand trial.
Kiyoshi Ehara was arrested after he broke into a first-floor apartment and stabbed a 64-year-old male resident in the neck and chest with a kitchen knife just past 5 a.m. on August 23, NTV reported. The victim, who was in bed at the time, sustained serious injuries but they ere not life-threatening, police said.
Police said Ehara, who lives in the same building as the victim, admitted to the allegation and quoted him as saying, “I had a noise issue with the man. I stabbed him and meant kill him.”
Ehara’s psychiatric evaluation will last until Nov 5.

Wow! They've got this "psychiatric evaluation" down to two months now! It used to be three! Has there been some breakthrough in the pseudoscience?
