Man with samurai sword held after barricading himself in Aichi

Police on Thursday arrested a 50-year-old man for barricading himself with a samurai sword at his house in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture. The 50-year-old unemployed man, who has not been identified by police, was arrested by an armed police team at 4:50 p.m. after he barricaded himself with a samurai sword for six hours.

According to police, the suspect visited his brother's company at 10:35 a.m., demanding that his brother be paid a bonus and back wages. He threatened a 48-year-old female employee with the sword. He left the office a few minutes later after being persuaded by other employees that they would look into the matter.

The man returned home but when police showed up after being notified by the company, he refused to come out. His mother and brother who live with him were not injured and emerged soon after the siege began.

Swords, unemployed, blah, blah, blah. This sort of thing happens so often, I would question its value as a news article.

Serves the company right for not paying the brother the proper wages.

What a loon.

Man with sword (MWS): I demand payment! I demand payment!

Female employee: uh, er, um, ok, sir, we'll look into it...Uh, what's your address again?

MWS: Here's my address....Well then, (sheathing sword) glad that's settled. (walks out)

FE: Um, police,...

Very good point.....But could you really expect any better on this site..?

They could run this same article, with city's and names slightly changed, everyday for a year and it wouldn't surprise anyone...

Same 50 year old living at home with his mother... Same sense of "Surprise" in the news... Same incompetent cops....

I think the only thing missing is the 8 straight hours of live TV coverage, as police, dressed out in the latest, (toy) tactical body armor and news helicopters circling around, while one slightly disturbed 50 year old, holds hundreds of police with real guns, at bay, armed with little more than a replica katana and sitting in his underwear on the kitchen floor playing with his new i-phone and muttering to himself how terrible and strange that new Gaijin who moved into his neighborhood is..

A sign of the times. It's about time Japanese people started to stand up for their worker's rights. The work ethics (or lack of them) in this so-called 'developed country' are a bloody disgrace! Good on him! However, his brother won't get his money. He will be fired and have his severance pay abolished for being a trouble maker.

Ess, maybe his brother should've thought about that before comin' to the company and chasin' an elderly woman around with a sword.

I'll bet he'll be upset with his brother if that gets him fired.

Triple888, Yeah he is a 50 year old japanese unemployed man but losing his mind when infact there are many ways to solve catalysmic situation in his life just not to bullying other person and force him to pay by threatening a woman using a sword. You said "you try to be unemployed?" Yes, I am unemployed because of someone secret organization might be blocking me to get employed but I will never ever end up like a Psychos or zombies like them. I will never lose hope. If 50 year old man, Have a will to survive then there must be ways, if he is blocked then God will save him. Just never lose hope.
