Police on Thursday arrested a 50-year-old man for barricading himself with a samurai sword at his house in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture. The 50-year-old unemployed man, who has not been identified by police, was arrested by an armed police team at 4:50 p.m. after he barricaded himself with a samurai sword for six hours.
According to police, the suspect visited his brother's company at 10:35 a.m., demanding that his brother be paid a bonus and back wages. He threatened a 48-year-old female employee with the sword. He left the office a few minutes later after being persuaded by other employees that they would look into the matter.
The man returned home but when police showed up after being notified by the company, he refused to come out. His mother and brother who live with him were not injured and emerged soon after the siege began.© Japan Today
