Police have arrested a 26-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of attempted murder after he slashed a 66-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman outside Korakuen subway station in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, on Thursday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 8 p.m. Police received a call from a witness reporting that a man and woman had been attacked by another man with a knife. Police rushed to the scene and apprehended Takeshi Kaneda, who had a knife with a 10-cm-long blade, Fuji TV reported. The two victims were taken to hospital to be treated for wounds to their stomach, face and hands. Their condition was stable, police said Friday.
The two victims, who are company employees, are acquainted with Kaneda who used to work at the same company two years ago. Police said he has admitted to slashing his two former colleagues, but denied intent to kill.© Japan Today
