There is a possibility Japan is getting more dangerous. As poverty levels increase, crime rates increase. Japan is still a very safe country compared to places like The U.S. and U.K. In all countries media makes profit on fear. Safety is considered boring and doesn’t sell. Fear sells papers and attracts readers so it’s only for bad things to receive majority of the press even in countries like the U.S.

Japan is getting more dangerous by the day, and no one can dispute these headlines the past few weeks.

Wait, you aren’t doing that entirely illogical thing people do here where you think that the number of headlines you read is even remotely proportional to the actual amount of crime, are you? That would be so silly. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you have numbers to support your claim that japan is getting more dangerous by the day, and weren’t just being silly and making unfounded claims. So can you please provide those numbers.

Japan is getting more dangerous by the day, and no one can dispute these headlines the past few weeks. Random knifings, people being assaulted on the streets, people being found dead in their rooms.

Stay safe out there.

Compared to so many other countries (maybe even most countries), it actually is safe.

Police said he has admitted to slashing his two former colleagues, but denied intent to kill.

So what was his intent? To just cut them with a knife?

Perhaps you should listen to them, because they are right.

Such horrific incidents are still very much the exception, rather than the norm. Which is why they get so much publicity.

Holding a grudge against your former coworkers. What could they have possibly done to him? No intent to kill? Then why point a deadly weapon at someone?

Safety depends on many things. In my opinion Japan is a very safe country for men. I think it can be a dangerous place for women since there seems to be higher, unreported, sexual assaults here. Far too often women are groped, stalked, or worst here.

Compared to my home country of America, Japan has less serious crimes such as murder and physical assault. But Japan has far more rights and labor rights violations. Well possibly. This is possibly because if it isn’t reported it is hard to gauge.

I love the way they always say, “Yeah, I attacked them with a knife, but didn’t intend to kill them.” So, what were his intentions? Grievous bodily harm? Assault with a deadly weapon? I’m so glad guns are strictly controlled in Japan. There are stabbing attacks pretty much every day. I shudder to think about the body count of guns were easily accessible in Japan.
