Man's body found beneath kitchen floor at his house

Police said Friday that the body of a man was found beneath the kitchen floor of his house in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture.

The decomposing body was identified as that of Masao Inoue, 68, who was reported missing by his 28-year-old daughter on Aug 10, TBS reported. Police said Inoue appeared to have been strangled to death and beaten about the head.

According to police, Inoue's daughter noticed a foul smell coming from the storage space under the kitchen floor and discovered the remains on Thursday afternoon. She told police she last saw her father before she left for work on Aug 8, and reported him missing two days later, TBS reported.

I bet the guy killed himself and then boarded himself up so nobody would find him.

I believe this is murder since a person cannot strangle him(her) self to death since you'll pass out before it kills you. At least that's what I heard decades ago.

If this is the same case as I saw on the news last night, he was actually found in the under-floor storage bin in the kitchen rather than under the floorboards. Normally you'd think someone in the family did it- I wonder who else lives in the house?

Apsara, the same thing occurred to me. The bins under the kitchen floor are usually opened with one of those twist-handles and some are large enough to even be equipped with a small ladder that leads down into the bowels of the house. It's like a tiny basement. Anyway, there's no need to disturb the floorboards.

I don't get it, If my dad was missing for a day I would be calling the police. Did she cook at all, I mean what did they store in those bins wherein she did not need to look in the storage bins for 2 days or until she smelled something. This is fishy, I hope the murderer confesses to this.

My understanding of the storage unit in the kitchen floor of houses. A builder informed me when we first bought our house that the unit was an emergency food storage box in the event of an earthquake . The first thing families who survived, rummaged through the wreckage for their food and water supply.

It's easy enough to lift the bin out and drop a body down and replace the bin and the hatch cover . Case solved , I'm with Chris McMillan .

Utrack- I have under-kitchen storage that I have not opened in several years. I make do with over-kitchern storage. In- kitchen.

gaijinifo- I doubt he decided to get down into the storage, close it, and strangle himself there! And did he beat himself about the head too?

Yeah, family/relative looks likely. Someone who knew th house anyway.
