Man's remains found in vinyl bag by river in Tokyo

Police said Friday that the remains of a man were found inside a black vinyl bag by a bank of the Arakawa River in Tokyo's Katsushika Ward.

According to police, a man going fishing came across the bag at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday. He noticed a foul odor coming from the bag and notified police, NTV reported.

Police said the state of decay indicated that the body had been in the bag for several months. They said it was an adult male and was naked. The hands and feet were bound and there was another bag over the head, police were quoted as saying.

Bricks won't do it. Gases from rot and bacteria build up and the corpse will rise unless in a cage. Weighted down, the part attatched to the weight will just rip off. If in bag, bag will rip. I just read a book about a serial killer and learned the charming little nugget that before depositing a corpse in a river, you must cut the stomach and intestines up so the gases can be released. Then it will stay sunk.

This has MOB HIT written all over it but not the Japanese Yaks. They are not known for this kind of result. They are known for putting you at the bottom of the river not beside it

No it doesn't not at all. The Mob would ensure that you never resurfaced.

@WilliB It would be hard to kill your self, put your self in a bag and leave it by the river.

I hope the constabulary does not write this one off as "suicide".

A couple of bricks in that bag and it would still be in the bottom of the river.

Please note that the charge of abandoning a corpse is standard procedure until murder is proven.

Let's see how long it takes the cops to conclude this involved foul play. And lemme guess, they're investigating this as a crime of abandoning a corpse...
