Man's throat slashed at front door in possible case of mistaken identity

A man was slashed across the neck by an assailant carrying a bladed weapon after answering his front door at around 6:40 a.m. on Thursday, police said. The victim, Junya Suzuki, who lives in Wago, Shizuoka Prefecture, sustained an eight-centimeter gash to his throat, police said.

Suzuki told police the assailant had a female accomplice who yelled out "That's not him" immediately after the attack. The pair fled the scene.

Police believe the attack was a case of mistaken identity. According to Suzuki, the woman accompanying the attacker was not Japanese. The man was about 175 cm tall and around 30 years of age. The woman was around 170 cm tall and in her late 20s or early 30s.

Poor guy! Slashed by mistake.

The woman isn't Japanese, could they narrow it down a bit? Or do all "gaijin" look the same?

Never been to Shizuoka, but I'm sure that it would be really easy to find a man walking around with a gaijin lady. Let's see how long it takes the keystones to nab them.

knackerz - I can narrow it down. Perhaps this "gaijin" was of slavic ancestry, likely Romanian, or Belarusian. Yep, I'm sure Mr. slash victim can pinpoint that right away.

This was on NHK last night, and they were very specific. He is Brazilian, she was Russian. They repeated that fact about 4 times in the short story.

Hostess club connection anyone?

Can you imagine reading "he was not English" on BBC or "she was not American" on CNN...it sounds so ridiculously accusatory.

Hostess club connection anyone?

Possibly an unpaid bill.

Buffling:..So this man was ordered to go kill someone without being shown his picture?

@bababooey "knackerz - I can narrow it down. Perhaps this "gaijin" was of slavic ancestry, likely Romanian, or Belarusian. Yep, I'm sure Mr. slash victim can pinpoint that right away." Common sense, "Mr. slash victim" could say the color of the skin maybe an accent and so on. Only in a prejudice country as Japan would they say she was not Japanese. If the victim could tell the age and size how can they not tell the basic nationality of the people.

the woman accompanying the attacker was not Japanese

here's how media can contribute to catch the assailants ---- instead of just saying gaijin, give more detail information... hair color? skin color? race?????

the woman accompanying the attacker was not Japanese

so, the victim thought she wasn't japanese because of her accent when she yelled? or by her appearance????? need more info here..

Mistaken identity? I'll say...

"Sorry buddy, I thought you were a PEZ dispenser."

Just saw J-news and the guy who cut the man's throat was captured!! a brazilian man!! the non-japanese woman was Russian by the way.

@bababooey: for your info, Romanians are not of slavic ancestry.

fishy; Could you plaese say foreigner in future, the word is only slightly longer. This will be another case of bad foreigners and will of course get lots of media attention.

What a way to start your day, eh?

fishy; Could you plaese say foreigner in future, the word is only slightly longer

aw, i used the word non-japanese only because in the article it said the woman was not japanese so i meant a tiny little bit of sarcasm here..

anyways, i am glad these two were arrested.

Shizuoka has lots of Brazilians, and I hope people don't look at those good Brazilians and give them bad names because of the one bad apple. Same thing about Russians.. This Russian woman is just one bad apple and hope those good Russians won't get harmed in any ways (physically and mentally, especially children in school).

A lot of men can be "sobbed" into doing a lot of crap for women. Whatever the man did to the woman was probably led on by the woman. These days that I'm older, I realize in very few cases was the man that was the one who was originally f'd.

Mistaken identity, so pleaded not guilty. Perhaps the case is of panty dhorobo.

Most of the Brazilians in Shizuoka are of Japanese descent. How about this one? Was he of Japanese ethnicity?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Do not open the door to those who you do not know.

Also do not answer if you are not expecting anyone. Most probably it is some salesman, bill collector or some nutcase waiting to slash your throat.

Thanks "fishy" now somebody should tell us about the condition of victim, 'minor' injury or inside the ICU ?!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Thank goodness he didn't die!

some14some-

the condition of victim, 'minor' injury or inside the ICU ?!

the victim's injury is very minor.. he's already released from the hospital.

Most of the Brazilians in Shizuoka are of Japanese descent. How about this one? Was he of Japanese ethnicity?

and this... the Brazilian guy's last name is Tanaka which is a very common Japanese last name, so yeah, he's very much likely of Japanese ethnicity.

Good to hear the guy who was slashed is already out of the hospital. I wonder if the police identified the culprits by comparing recent victim reports. Had the woman gone to them to report a rape and then turned to vigilante justice?

Whatever happened, I hope they also get to the bottom of who the couple was actually looking for, to see if that person is either a victim or a villan.
