Men connected to Roppongi club murder flee Japan

Read some where that the victim had borrowed some money from folks you should never borrow from and he never paid it back.

(Sigh) Once again, the fleetfooted police have allowed suspects to run away, nay, TRICKLE away from their grasp.

There's a lot the media and police are not saying. For example, the ones left behind are under surveillance, also the ones overseas are under surveillance at their hotels. They are expected to have their credit cards and bank accounts shut down by the end of the week. They are just waiting for the court orders and a coordinated international law enforcement apprehension. It's all in the cards already. Also, the group they are affiliated with is under survalliance also due to other small crimes. They will all be behind bars by the end of next month. Some escaped to places that may be hard to capture at the moment but their cash is bound to run out really soon. Anyway, I'm happy to see they are being sought for.

Again, I would like to emphasize that borrowing large amounts of cash from people who will take you and make of you an example is not my idea of a legal loan. Even some legal loans make a living nightmare on your finances. Stay away from those instant money lenders and loan sharks. They are friendly at the beginning but seem to tighten their courtesies every time you pay an installment. Motto reads "smile first, beat later"

NYPD or LAPD would have had these guys, if not all of them, 75% in custody within a week.

Oh, they didn't even bother to mention if they put out an interpol request for pick up, or arrest... You know Jcops, since you seem to know only that they flew the country, you can have them arrested or detained in the country that they flew to... I'll shoot for Thailand or Philippines. Japanese passports are a huge business there too. Usually the last stop in Asia. Hong Kong, Singapore to risky and any western nation with good Interpol ties....forget it. I am sure this gang already has the warrants issued and expect them on Interpol site soon... You see, when yk are involved, the JCops will settle for any reason (no matter how flimsy) to close the books on this case., and since Japan actually has a statute of limitations on Murder (unheard of in any other civilized country, btw I'm not implying that jp is civilized) They will go, "Oh, Ok, they're gone, We Can't do anything Now, Case Closed!" and after 10 years (or 15, what-ever the statute on murder is, I think 10 yrs) they can return to Japan, and have no possibility of facing any charges. See how that works...

The film from the survellience camera that got them entering the club in Roppongi showed that three or four of the bashers didn't have their masks covering their face at the time ... so the police have clear views of several faces to work with. Guess the cops just didn't alert immigration officials at airports and international ferries to be on the alert for the thugs. So they merely fled the country easily ...

One half a million US, even, is a lot not only for that kind of beating, but for the bother of risking 10 guys to do it and then paying for them to fly to other countries and hide out. What a waste of time, money, energy, resources, and ppl. Just get one guy to break his leg, then a few wks later an arm, maybe beat him w/in an inch of his life, but kill? Using ten guys to do it?

The reason why the suspects fled abroad -- and this is a major omission on the part of the story -- is that they are believed to be of mixed Japanese-Chinese ancestry, members of the extended families of Japanese "war orphans" who were abandoned in China in 1945 an repatriated many years later. When they came here they brought members of their families, and some of the 2nd or 3rd generations have gravitated to crime, including murder for pay. When JT ran a story several weeks ago in which a Keio professor suggested at least some of the perps were foreign posters in here scoffed at the notion, but more and more data is surfacing that he was at least partially correct.

Seriously some of you watch tooooo much dang TV and movies, real life is not like what you see on CSI Miami.

First thing to point out is that the suspects left Japan in the days immediately after the event. In the days immediately after the event, the police did not know who the suspects were to begin with, it was still an investigation.

So for those who think the police just let them get away, they didn't know who they were to begin with, crimes are not solved in 45 minutes like you see on TV!

It takes time to research, investigate, review the tape, track down who's on the tape, interview witnesses, by the time the police came up with a list of suspects, the suspects had already left (as mentioned by the article within days after the incident, when it was still under investigation).

Lowly, it was "about half a million yen" not dollars. Not a huge sum, but Tokyogas, in one respect you are mistaken; it takes very little to hire 10 boys with bats to beat someone up. Yen 10,000 each is plenty. I never pay more than that...;-)

The clock on the statute of limitations stops as soon as you leave the country and starts again when you re-enter.

If you are Japanese person or have dual nationalty, yes.

Japanese police inform the yakuza whenever they are about to do something with regards to them, more than likely giving them time to leave Japan and the cops a free holiday to go play Miami Vice in another country on the tax payers money. These guys wont be charged and they will be free.

The police fell down on the job once again!! If they wanted these men for questioning they should have flagged their passports so they would have been stopped at the airport!! GEE what a thought!!!!

Since they tend to inform the yakuza or businesses a week in advance that they plan to investigate, they no doubt did so here, and in return for more or less turning a blind eye on the people responsible fleeing the country (they could have easily put out names at airports, no?) they got the details after the fact.

If they can identify the men by name, it's possible that China will allow them to be extradited back to Japan to stand trial. Fleeing abroad is no longer the free pass it once was, since extradition treaties for certain crimes are in place. There were some murders by Chinese in Kyushu a number of years ago, and the Chinese authorities agreed to extradition of the wanted criminals, who I recall, were sentenced to death.

The suspects were wearing ski-masks. What were the police supposed to do - detain every adult male under the age of 60 that tried to leave the country? They would have almost certainly identified suspects at some point after the event, ran checks and then found some had already left the country.

Half a million yen? That's like.. $6,000...? Regardless of the amount.. we should never harm anyone... $6,000 grand? 10 guys... murdered and left the country for $6,000? That's not even good business on the lenders side either..

I laugh at all the people living behind Rose colored glasses! If indeed this man borrowed money from a Crime Syndicate and refused to repay..... and then had the audacity to be out partying in Roppongi in plain sight.... well then guess what. It would be so nice if this stuff never happened I know but the grim reality is.... it happens every day, and probably every hour somewhere in the world. These elements of the Human Race will always be present.... the trick is to try to keep it down as much as possible. In Japan its rare for criminal elements to take a person's life.... but every once in awhile.... it may be necessary to send a signal.

Rumor in Roppongi has it they may have murdered the wrong guy. The guy seems to have had no issues with neither the Kanto Rengo group nor the Yamaguchi clan both of whom are seemingly suspected as the possible group behind the crime.
