Nice story. It is good to see stories like this. Hope to see more.

Suspended prison term for breaking into someone's home and stealing? That basically encourages people to do the same.

"Dacshund" from the German "dachs-" (badger) and "hund" (dog), and were bred to squeeze into burrows and bark ferociously, startling the occupants to flee out the back door, where the hunters would be waiting. This explains their shape, fearlessness, ferocious bark.

This "story" shouldn't really be in the crime section. Not really crime worthy news. More like gossip to me.

"Heroism"?? Award??? Infantile.

Suspended sentence for B&E and burglary?
For a society that loves rules and order, Japan's judicial system seems to be quite lenient towards those who break them.

GaryPen; EXACTLY ! CAUGHT, RED HANDED, B & E, and gets OFF.
He'll just go out and do it again.

Hmmm ok, if the police said so, 'heroism' it is then.
Really? I think once or twice a year is enough. That's regional newspapers stuff and am talking 7/8th page on an extremely quiet news day.

Excellent! We need more positive stories like this.

Good job! I'm sure the dog now has a more stronger bond with her owner.

The judge needs some kind of award too - but I have something different in mind.

Good dog. Good dog.

How unusual for a dog to bark at an intruder?! Hahahahahaha refreshing news on the 'crime' section.
