Police in Tokyo, investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old female university student, are questioning a man in his 30s over her whereabouts.
According to police, after attending morning classes at her university in Tokyo on Nov 20 last year, the woman headed to Kamisu City in Ibaraki Prefecture, Sankei Shimbun reported. After getting off the train at JR Kashimajingu Station, she took a taxi and got out at a nearby convenience store.
Shortly afterward, residents living in the neighborhood of the man being questioned said the woman inquired about his address. She said she had come that far from her memory but seemed to have lost her way. The residents said that after being told where the man lived, she headed off on foot in the direction of his apartment.
The student, who lives in Tokyo's Katsushika Ward, has not been heard from since. She stopped sending text messages to her family and friends at around 11 p.m. that night.
Police began questioning the man on Saturday on a voluntary basis. Police quoted him as saying “I did meet a female university student in front of my apartment building but she immediately left.”
However, when asked how he became acquainted with the missing student and the circumstances on the day she disappeared, the man has reportedly been giving vague responses.

This reminds me of a case in which a woman visited a man’s apartment and then disappeared - it was later discovered that the man and women met on the Internet in a forum of people wanting to end their lives. The man arranged to assist her ...

Why would an article like this be posted with such vague details?
Even the title makes no sense. I'm sure that on the day of her disappearance, she did so many other things. For more details, the police could find the taxi driver and ask him if she spoke about her motives for this travel, was she carrying clothes? A big bag? Suit case? Talk to her friends? That'd be more beneficial than this pointless article!

They would have to supply more information for the public to come to valid opinions. This information is all too vague but I'm sure the Police have their reasons for not sharing any more than this. Let's wait and see.

How in the world do the police just accept him giving vague and unhelpful answers? "Yeah, this guy seems to have known her but he when we ask him more details he becomes very evasive, well it's probably unrelated to anything so let's not press any further." Like seriously, I'd imagine in most countries if you start acting suspicious and can't produce any kind of understandable reason you take them in for questioning. If this guy did kill her then you're just giving him time to think of a story and clean up his mess.

Why she can't remember everything ?

Maybe she's a stalker. As a young military member stationed in Korea, I came home to my dorm room one day and found a female high school student in my room waiting for me. I wasn't dating her. I had never brought her on the base, and I sure as hell never showed her where my dorm room was. So I don't know how she found out where I lived. I convinced her to leave, and took her to the church where some ladies talked some sense into her.

"Dating" site being a euphemism for prostitution?
Exactly. It's not as if searching the apartment and swabbing for DNA is beyond the capacity of competent law enforcement.
The victim remembered how to get to the suspect's neighborhood by memory. That allows the inference that these people had met previously.

His excuse Sound Suspicious to me. Put the pressure on him until he confesses. Check the woods for any human remains and check his refrigerator for human meat. Now a days you just never know what people are capable of.

This doesn't look too good.
Young women always need to be careful about these things.

Best to meet strangers in public places the first few times, regardless of how long you've known them online.
This applies to men and women.

The police are currently looking for one by trying to convince the man to confess.

If you ask me, they should have used that tech from Minority Report to prevent it from happening in the first place.

How about checking the apartment for her DNA?

Which University? Is it one of the one's where the "Mr. University" guys were molesting women?

Why would she immediately leave? Then disappear?

Not enough information to determine if the man who said he met a female university student in front of his apartment building has anything to do with her disappearance or not. But...
However, when asked how he became acquainted with the missing student and the circumstances on the day she disappeared, the man has reportedly been giving vague responses.
That's an indication he just might.

How were they acquainted? What was the purpose of her traveling all that way? Hopefully, this is not another one of those ‘met on a dating site and ended up dead’ scenarios.

Or perhaps it all makes sense and the guy needs to recover his memory.(?)

This makes no sense at all...
