Don't fiddle around with Child Support for your Chinese ex-Wife, otherwise you'll end up short a fiddle or two.

And anyway, of course legal proceedings (and thus reports on legal proceedings) are going to use a person's actual name, not whatever name they've made for themselves.

Fair enough, then I'll just put the blame on the folks who wrote the article and failed to put in that her name was something different.

I can't agree with many here. If it's true that he is not supporting his own child, then f-hole him

For cryin out loud, ANOTHER one jumping the gun, NOWHERE have I read the guy was a deadbeat, the divorce was just STARTING!

If it turns out the guy is a skinflint fine, but PLEASE enough with the stereotype  of the deadbeat dad when his wife is clearly a psycho!

It just shows why Japan needs to address its lack of child support and joint custody laws.

@Civitas Sine Suffragio

At least she only smashed up inanimate objects in her rage. Men often murder women when they are in such rages.

What an idiotic comment! You can't even bring yourself to criticize this crazed woman who attempted to destroy that man's livelihood. Instead you insist that this behavior is somehow acceptable because of comparisons to completely unrelated cases and situations. The details of the negotiations are not yet public knowledge, but your comment clearly shows your utter prejudice against men. You could justify any kind of antisocial behavior by saying "Well that's not as bad as what men do". Shame on you.

I can't agree with many here. If it's true that he is not supporting his own child, then f-hole him. I was left in the lurch by a deadbeat dad, and I have little sympathy for someone who abandons his children. Violins can be replaced. A decent childhood can't. Throw him in prison - give her a slap on the wrist.

Hell hath no fury like......................

a younger woman who marries for money and then finds she isn't going to get as much as she wanted? Was that the quote you were referencing? :)

She has broken the law and as such should be punished.

As she has admitted breaking the violins she is liable for the cost, and if it is an insurance company coming after her you can bet the higher estimated figure will get reinstated!

Hmmm... young Chinese woman wants a permanent visa, likely, so marries a sugar daddy. Regardless, He doesn't pay, you go through the law; you don't destroy violins worth probably tens of thousands of dollars, if not more.

She ripped him a new f-hole.

@Educator60:

He's also in a foreign country.

The article doesn't specify his nationality. Is he not Japanese then?

Yubaru, Civitas:

Japanese sites are reported her Chinese name too, it's a Kyodo thing, not a JT thing. And anyway, of course legal proceedings (and thus reports on legal proceedings) are going to use a person's actual name, not whatever name they've made for themselves.

Reckless,

I haven't read anywhere saying the guy was ducking support payments, sounds like they were in negotiations & she went off the rails crazy!

Civitas,

enough with the generalizations, sure men commit DV but so DO women & when kids get abused its more often women doing the abusing!

Why cant we just try to deal with all DV, is that too much too ask?

Out of curiosity, why is this article using her Chinese name?

Her name, as previously published, here in Japan, is  Midori Kawamiya.

Hopefully she is jailed for very long time, and then deported if she dont have nationality.

If these are released, collectors will rush to buy. Repaired Stradivarius is as high price as original.

These violins are not Stradivarius, they were made by the guy himself.

At the time of her arrest in July this year, the police said the 54 violins and 70 bows Qin allegedly destroyed were collectively worth around 105.9 million yen ($948,400). However, they later reduced the amount to 15.61 million yen ($139,800), saying the initial figure was based on a claim made by the husband.

Yeah, the guy thinks his work is worth more than it actually is, like any artist and their craft, it's up to the buyer to decide if they want to pay the price or not, and it seems to me that while he may make a good product, it's obvious that the folks who appraised his work think otherwise.

That's what happens when you marry your father for money, and then he cuts your allowance

During Tuesday's court hearing, Qin said she did not destroy all the violins and bows she is alleged to have broken.

So how many does she admit to breaking then?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

As opposed to yesterday's report of a spousal argument over money, which culminated in the man murdering the woman.

So. Y'know. Let's hope the punishments fit the crimes.

Not a music lover, I suspect. Perhaps her strings are "too tightly wound". Or perhaps she is just "highstrung" ?
