More dismembered body parts found in canisters in Osaka

Police in Osaka said Monday that three metal canisters filled with decomposed body parts, including a severed head, have been found in suspected murder cases involving at least two victims. The body parts found so far include a head, three ankles, a pair of hands and bone fragments, according to a prefectural police spokesman.

The first discovery was made on Sunday morning. A severed head and parts of two legs were found in a canister by workers taking part in a community park clean-up event in Higashikozu park in Tennoji Ward. A second canister was found nearby, on Sunday after reports of a pungent stench. It contained hands and bone fragments, police told a news conference.

Meanwhile, NHK reported Monday that a third metal container found at a municipal dump contained a severed ankle. The containers, each with a capacity of 18 liters, were of a type widely used to hold liquids such as paints or kerosene. NHK also reported that witnesses in the neighborhood told police that they had seen two persons unloading canisters from a minivan near Higashikozu park one night in mid-July.

My wife believes this is a cult murder, she maybe onto something.

can this been considered a serial killer case?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

they'll just arrest and force a confession out of a random Chinese man.

Yeah, that's right, the police have the same methods all around the world. BTW, in this case it will take them two Chinese men and one Chinese woman to solve these murders.

Guess the police will not dare to solve a case involving yakuza. The criminals will go scotfree.

Their chances of finding the person who actually did it are virtually nil, but it's OK, they'll just arrest and force a confession out of a random Chinese man.

I can't wait to see which poor guy the Japanese clowns in uniforms are going to stitch up this time.

In the early hours of this morning, the news was showing repeatedly, one rusty old box next to a lamp post, and police putting up a huge blue sheet around a tree area. Repeatedly...one box...a tad dramatic? I think so...

BTW, Tennoji Police station is some 500m away from that park.

Guess they want to be found. Why else dump the bodies in a location where it would be found...a park.

According to updates in the vernacular media, the various parts are from three (not two), different bodies.

If Sasoriza is right this is probably a yakuza crime because there are multiple ppl involved with the crime, a man is beaten to death, and there were no missing people reports before the crime. The good news is the general population probably is safe from a serial killer. The bad news of course is evil has happened.

The place is tricky- it is right between Ue-Honmachi, pretty nice place where Osaka International Center and Sheraton are, and Tsuruhashi, where I wouldn't go after dark. They just said that except these 2 men who left the cans, there was also a woman driver. The head belongs to a man in his forties or fifties, obviously beaten to death.

"Police strongly suspect foul play."

Ummm... as opposed to a natural death or suicide? Did the person(s) dismember him/herself and kindly find canisters to lie in?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

as SILLYGIRL mentioned, I just cant get past the fact that people have seen others dumping canisters in their neighbourhood and no one has contact the police about them. i hope those that have no said this can remember some details of the car and people dumping.

Yakuza must be working at a local butcher also

I think you may be right. It is highly unlikely a sick murderer would be two people. Nut cases usually do it alone, and putting parts in parks where people will find them is definitely intended to be found.

This sucks... now my kid wants to go to the park and look for human parts like a detective. No joke.

Japanese seem to have a morbid fascination with so-called barabara jiken (cases involving dismemberment). I'm sure the media will keep us entertained with various updates. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to realize that if disposal of the body parts involved a truck and several laborers, then organized crime probably has a hand in it. But anybody with such resources could easily have dumped the body parts in a land fill or in the ocean. Ergo, it stands to reason that they wanted to parts to be found, to send a signal to someone about the deaths. It's the Osaka equivalent of sending a fish wrapped in newspaper.

Yeah, as I thought, double suicide. Case solved.

Best quote on this site all month!

I'm never going to a park again.

Sounds like someone is copying the Dexter Series again. The MO sounds just like the barrel girls' murderers.

"Police strongly suspect foul play." I've seen that sentence in another similar story. I was kinda disappointed it wasn't used in this article.

Suspected murder cases

Suspected!!! I am pretty sure it wasn't a double suicide...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cos.

Yeah, sure because the media would get the victims identity before the family. Guess, you never read statements like "Victims identity withheld till family is informed" or similar.

Your argument is way too flawed on too many levels.

"Why do you care about the sex of the victims? One sex more valuable than the other? "

So why do you care about the article ? It's not a question of value of people. Still, that's different if it's a baby, a grand-mother, a teenage girl, a middle aged men, members of a same family... They tend to be victims for different reasons, don't they ? Then, if I had a dear one missing, I'd read all those articles hoping they give age/sex informations.

How could people in the neighborhood tolerate the stench...since mid-July...the hot weather...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

could it have been a disused graveyard

sec cams identified the car and silhouettes of 2 persons.

Suspected murder cases?

chock full of body parts

@ sillygirl

Exactly.

Why do you care about the sex of the victims? One sex more valuable than the other? Someone died in a horrible way and that is all that should matter not sex, age, creed, etc.

As for CSI forget anything you see on TV, maybe besides some discovery channel programs.

1.) They only show internal autopsies, most only need an external one.

2.) CSI staff are lab-rats and handle multiple cases per day and send samples to other departments for processing. They don't interview people or get to set foot outside their labs they are there to process samples. Most of the times they don't know details besides what is in front of them.

3.) Most morgues are dark and dirty and they handle up to 8 or more autopsies simultaneously(most don't take more than 2-3hours).

Read a fairly good book recently called: "City of the Dead" by Herbert Lieberman, I also enjoy novels written by former forensic experts.

CSI time - I'm not talking about the tv show.

I want to know the sex of the people killed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

shouldn`t people call the police in cases of illegal dumping?

witnesses in the neighborhood told police that they had seen two persons unloading canisters from a minivan near Higashikozu park one night in mid-July.

This maybe a nuff nut to crack. How on earth can they find the criminals who did this cause I don't think they are going to turn themselves in.
