Japan still has a rather pristine reputation around the world as a place of safety and honor. These scam artists and selling out this reputation for a little bit of cash. Truly disappointing and, in the long run, damaging.

They are most likely Japanese by nationality not ethnicity. They are using Japans good name for their scams. Maybe Nigerian or Indian Japanese citizens.

@Erik Morales would it also be safe to assume that they are most likely Japanese by nationality not ethnicity. They are using Japans good name for their scams. Maybe from Brazil, Mexico, Honduras or Spain somewhere south america Japanese citizens? As your surname suggest.
