Mother, 3 young children found dead in apparent murder-suicide

A 35-year-old woman and her three children – two sons aged 10 and 9, and a 6-year-old daughter – were found dead in their home in Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward on Friday night in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police said the remnants of burned charcoal briquettes were found in the same room as the bodies, Fuji TV reported.

According to police, they received a call from the woman’s husband at around 6:15 p.m. Friday, saying that he had returned home from work and found his wife and children unconscious in a third-floor room. The four were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police said there were no signs of external injuries on any of the bodies and believe the mother killed her children and herself.

Selfish witch, just kill yourself not others! Poor kids!

So it happens again.

Another Japanese mother murders her children.

Some of you think the father is to blame, others think maybe the government.

The only person to blame is the mother.

If she left she’d get govt support. Even if she didn’t - people in poorer countries don’t kill their kids.

And no, it’s not the father’s fault. Once again, there are other options other than killing three children.

Japan is a safe country. But, inside the family home is the dangerous place.

These pathetic, worthless, and selfish women! I have had to say it pretty much every day this week, but I'll say it again, it is a very sad thing if you reach the point where you feel you need to take your own life. We need to do more as a society to help, but help exists, and obviously, although this is now an almost daily occurrence in Japan, obviously the majority of those who need it find it somewhere and avoid suicide. But do NOT take others with you, especially not little children who love and depend on you. I hope this sick woman is rotting in hell.

Yes, we all need to do more, but it is also up to the person themself to seek out help, and it is most certainly their choice to die and to kill others. Not the husband's fault, not the government's.

Why take the kids with you!!!! They are not extensions of you (how NPD) people see kids.... RIP little ones, may it be a hot day in hell for "mom".

Rest in Peace to the 3 Angels. They deserved a mother who would always protect their lives not kill them.

@Tony W. - Really the Coroner's report should be made public before we blame the mother. Carbon dioxide poisoning from unventilated heating has occurred many times

Bwahahaha! Yeah, everybody burns charcoal in their bedrooms for heating. (roll eyes)

If you really need to kill yourself, do it alone. Don't take children's lives, please. I beg you.

Who knows if there is something with her husband causing her to bring her children with her.

That should never be an excuse to kill children. Assistance can be obtained through government agencies or from friends who can guide her in the right direction.

So, should this be counted as another case of child abuse? Or, how about a mass-murder?

It must have been been quite devastating for the husband to come hone and find his family all dead. However, one has to wonder if he was part of the severe depression that lead to this mother killing herself and her three kids.

Its hard to comprehend why this happens so often in Japan.

how many of you are married to Japanese men?they are not the family tipe, they just take the kids out to park on Sunday,I call them (Sunday park dads )because that is all they do,included my husband that is Japanese, she was in such despair that took her children’s life

Why is it when a father kids his kids, women go nuts and claim he is to blame, but when a mother kills her kids, women defend her, claiming she was in a dark place, and it is all because of the father?

This rubbish it's because of the Japanese father, is wrong.

The men in this county work their a$$es off to put a roof over the females and kids heads and food on the table, so do not blame the men.

100% blame lands on the mothers, they do this not because of love for the kids, the did this as revenge on the fathers.

Who's to blame, the mother, or the lack of support from the government. People will fall into severe mental illness that leads to these terrible things. But why?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Why won't we blame the mother? who killed them on the first place?

Just because they are the ones who brought those kids to life it doesn't mean that they have the right to kill them.

First of all, burning charcoal in an enclosed space here in Japan,be it in a car or home, is only done for one purpose and one only. Living here for over 20 years, it’s very easy to see that it’s a preferred method of suicide for many women who don’t want to suffer. Therefore, this certainly wasn’t an accident.

Secondly, whether the father was a ‘weekend dad’ as was suggested or not, since when has that been a justification for murdering three little kids? Whether there were mental issues at play or not, a mother under pressure only needs to go to the city hall to get help and advice. I can never get over this ‘gaman, ganbatte’ attitude here.

Mothers and and fathers are gods to their children, and you reward their trust and love by snuffing our their lives because of selfishness? It’s good to see more and more parents being reported for child abuse, and greater transparency, but until parents here stop treating their kids as accessories and more like human beings, this crap will never end.

I hope you three little ones are at peace, but you’re in a place you should NEVER have had to go to. My son will get a big hug from me when I get home this evening.

Its the honor code extending to women

Really the Coroner's report should be made public before we blame the mother. Carbon dioxide poisoning from unventilated heating has occurred many times in many countries around the world. The coroner will look into her medical and family history to try to determine whether or not it could have been a deliberate act.

Burned char coal briquettes, in winter with possibly doors and windows shut, is it possible it's an accident? Could it be carbon monoxide poisoning?

There are so many too quick here to put blame and condemn without even thinking intellectually.

We don't even know if the suicide/murder was caused by a domestic problem. Who knows if there is something with her husband causing her to bring her children with her.

IMHO
