Mother arrested after stabbing 10-year-old son in back

Police in Chiba City have arrested a 46-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she stabbed her 10-year old son in the back.

The incident occurred at around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, Kyodo News reported. Police said the woman’s oldest son called 119 and said that his mother had stabbed his brother in the back several times with a knife.

Police rushed to the scene and found the boy with several knife wounds to his back in his first-floor bedroom. He was taken to hospital where doctors said his wounds were not life threatening.

The woman’s husband was at home at the time but was asleep on the second floor when the incident occurred.

Police said the woman has so far given no motive for stabbing her son.

How? HOW could a normal mother do that to her 10 year son? She must be raving mad and sentenced to a psychiatric hospital for a looooong time.

Model citizen....geez why do these people even have children?

How traumatic. The one person a kid should be able to trust most stabs him in the back. Tragic.

This isn't normal. Doing this by definition is not normal. Therefore, a normal mother couldn't do this to her kid, because the act of doing it by definition makes her abnormal.

Terrible incident.

Do all media outlets refer to homemakers as "unemployed"?

"a 46-year-old unemployed woman"

could it be she is a housewife? I guess a retired person could also be considered *unemployed* as well but retiree would be more accurate or how about a university student, I guess technically they are unemployed but student better reflects their situation.

It's almost as if the police are trying to stack the already insurmountable odds against the accused. Now I'm not in anyway defending this mother, maybe housewife here but "unemployed" doesn't best fit the circumstances as per story.

Makes the drunk dad who was arrested for throwing soy sauce at his son a while back look like a good parent in comparison! Glad the kid is ok physically. Mentally, he’s going to be messed up for life.

Males should be put on the endangered species here, often times were I read about mothers or even fathers killing sons, but NOT daughters!!?

In no way shape or form I do not condone what happened to this young boy, however as one comment pointed out there is zero support from schools and if this boy had a mental issue like ADHD and or other mental issues the doctors only prescribe medicine and nothing more in this country and there is a long waiting list for a so-called good doctor. My heart breaks for all and that includes the mother, we do not know what kind of stress she has been under and or if this child had mental issues what kind of trouble he has been getting into. Prayers to this family and especially to this young boy.

It's so difficult to comment on these topics. I've seen these stories here on JT for well over a decade. In each instance, men are thrown under the bus, while women receive the benefit of the doubt based on mental issues that don't show up on a CT or X-ray machine.

Japan desperately needs to usher in the age of equal accountability that is NOT based on gender. She should be charged with attempted murder just like any male would. No more gender passes.

If someone gets drunk or takes drugs, goes out, and accidentally kills or injures someone, the result is still the same. Being bipolar or depressed doesn't excuse your actions.

Strangerland: "This isn't normal..."

I don't know, my friend. You read about mom's killing (or attempting to) killing their kids and often themselves after pretty much daily now.

Demons inside her.

With a mom like that, who needs enemies.

There's no real motive in a thing like this but misplaced anger could be a part of the situation. The mom may harbor I'll feelings toward the father and may have taken it out on the child. You see this sometimes during acrimonious divorces or child custody battles where one spouse murders the children or commits a murder-suicide. Poor kid is now really down a parent so I hope he has a good father and set of grandparents.

could it be she is a housewife?

J-Media seems pretty content on reporting the perp's job or employer. But if the woman isn't married or separated, she can't be a housewife I guess.

I hope this little boy is taken to safety and grows up to be a better parent than the ones that hes got.

The article doesn't say he's ok physically. It only says that the wounds were not life-threatening. They still may be life-altering. (Organ damage, nerve damage, painful scars in muscle tissue, etc)

But, yeah, the emotion scars will be for life, regardless.

This kind of news items is not even mentioned by gossipers in conversations because it is not titillating to them. They would rather talk about trivial fantasy scandals because that tickles their ears. How shallow and gullible….

At 4 AM? The boy must have been sleeping. Imagine waking up to being stabbed by your own mother; usually we wake up to escape nightmares. He's only 10 years old; how will he ever get over this?

This kind of news is very good at ruining your day.

As far as my observations living in japan, at least 90% of japanese women have mental disorder. Some of them are not dangerous but the way of thinking and living would be considered weird and/or sick in other countries. Many of them are really dangerous and they don’t have human feelings. If they believe they can get away from the law, they would do absolutely everything such as killing a child, baby, or anyone that can personally benefit for them, or they may think so. Some of them has serious hormonal and anger issues that nothing can calm them down. Which may be the cause of some of the women ending up killed by their men as there may be nothing else men can do to calm down a situation of argument.

entire japan needs treatment. Perhaps, a tv channel can spare few hours each day trying to improve the situation. Even if i don’t believe religion myself, japan may actually benefit from a religion since there is no values or principles to control themselves. Hopefully my comment won’t be removed this time.
