Police in Nishihara, Kumamoto Prefecture, have arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she stabbed her eight-year-old daughter with a knife.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said the woman, who has not been named, stabbed the child in the neck.

The woman also has a young son who had not been to his preschool for several days, so on Friday, preschool and municipal government officials visited the child’s home at around 5:30 p.m. to see if everything was OK. At that point, they saw the daughter bleeding from a wound to the neck and called police.

The girl was taken to hospital where doctors said the stab wound was not deep. The woman’s son was unharmed.

Police said the woman has admitted to stabbing her daughter but has given no motive. They said she is expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Psychiatric evaluation??? Throw that insane mother into the gulag for her crime.

8 years old and in preschool? That might give some hint to the stress this woman was obviously under.

I hope she can get some help.

Peace is much more than the absence of war. The " wa " philosophy is as etherial ( con) as air. Quite a few people are sick, dark and disturbed.

That's going to take some time to heal.

Gee, thanks mom.

I’m curious about the time between her being stabbed and when the childcare staff arrived. The article states she hadn’t taken the boy to daycare for several days. Does this mean the girl was stabbed several days earlier? I think this woman’s psychiatric evaluation results are already clear. She’s nuts!
