I just hope the child doesn't go back to his mom, I just hope a nice family would adapt him (if it's even possible here in japan)

"I don't need a child. I want to be free and play around,"

Should have thought about that before you helped create him

the need to get drunk and party outweighed the need to care for her 1 year old son? a warm prison cell is too good of a punishment for you.

"I don't need a child. I want to be free and play around,"

The boy was found alone and crying in a street near the restaurant at around 11:30 p.m. while his mother was said to be drunk in a street and apart from him.

Real piece of work this female is.

I want to call her something else, but I don't think it will be posted...

As the father of a 2 year old, I cannot tell you just how pissed off I am right now..

A. Bad news: this story unfortunately happens everywhere around the world. Which doesnt make it acceptable.

B. Better news 1: I have faith in mankind that they notice a child in this situation and help him.

C. Better news 2: I imagine that life with this mother was not so good. This could save this child from her.

i pitty the poor boy

Just Wow!  I can imagine that at least 2 years ago she had seen all of the "cute" baby clothes and probably one of her friends was pregnant and she then decided at 41 that she wanted a kid.  Now after realizing that it's a lot of hard work, she would rather just forget about the kid and go out and get back out there and have fun.  Such a shame, but sad to say there are many out there like her (and men too).

Never get pregnant if you're not prepared. And you're already at your 40's... :/ tsk.... women nowadays.

I have a 2 year old too but felt more relief than anything. The baby is alive and hopefully goes to a better abode. However, we will probably never hear what happens after this.

I don’t have any kids and I am pretty po’d myself.

So, somebody in the restaurant dumped him out on the street? WTF?

Maybe he got out by himself? Most restaurants here are only manned by a few server (1, even) and they may be busy that time.

Jesus Christ... Lots of women praying for children, and this "thing" left her own 1 YEAR OLD son to play around in Roppongi.. at 43 years old.. and it is 1 degree outside.

Unbelievable.

I am so upset over this.

I have 2 kids, a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The thought of them crying alone in the car in the middle of the night, then wondering off crying for their parent's love.. it breaks my heart.

Some people are just not being humans. just human beings.

"I don't need a child. I want to be free and play around,"

Playing around is how you got the child -- time to 'suffer' the consequences. First, prison. Then... well, come to think of it, this child most certainly should be taken from her and put in a family with people who will love him. There are many who can't have their own.

gotta admit though, he's a tough little bugger! Wandering around Roppongi at midnight, by himself in 1.8C weather!

as you should.

Clearly this baby does not belong with his mother at this point.

At the same time, the alternatives are not much better. Here are some staggering numbers from a few years ago. Roughly 40,000 babies/children are in care in institutions. Every year less than 500 children are adopted in Japan. Only about 10-15% of those not with their parents/parents are placed with foster parents.

This is not unique to Japan, of course, but the number/percentages for adoption/foster families is significantly lower than places like Australia, the U.S., etc.

Truly heartbreaking when one consider the potential future for this baby boy. However, for now, it is a blessing that he is alive.

Lockke

100% on the money. Excellent post!

Absolutely. I wouldn't even grant her visitation rights

If you don't want him and just want to play around, then at least pretend to have some semblance of maturity and give him up for adoption to a loving family that will cherish and provide for him. Please do this immediately before you've had the chance to create permanent mental scars. He's still little so there is time.

Those that you "play around" and "be free" with aren't going to love you once your fleeting youth is (already) gone. They will not be there to hold your hand when you leave this world, they will not remember your life or visit your grave. Time to grow up, and if you don't want to do it then step aside and let someone who is willing to care for the boy. The child has done no wrong and shouldn't have to pay for his mother's severely prolonged immaturity.

Don't think prison cells are warm, leaving a baby at a bar then bar staff find baby and put it outside is that right? Guess suspended sentences are the go. Baby didn't die and killing a person seems to result in a 2 and a half year suspended sentence so it's predicable the outcome.

Fair enough. Good point

What a rotten cow! There are too many of these kinds of people around these days. They want to play the game, but won't take responsibility for their actions. The kid didn't ask to be born you selfish and immature brat! Then, you just dump him on the street so you can get drunk? Unfortunately, the consequences for her will not be befitting her crime. Bring back the public stocks and put her at Shibuya crossing. Let the masses deal her punishment!

charge the animal w attempted murder.

God i hope this child has some other family to raise him..

I am truly loss for words.  I'm sure there's more to this story like a deadbeat father perhaps.

"I don't need a child. I want to be free and play around,"

You're already 43 dear, the "free and play around" ride closed years ago...

43?

So she gave birth at 42?!

She did -- something that millions of couples her age who are running out of fertility time would give anything to be able to do. Those couples would love to have a child of their own... and this ingrate has one and treats him this badly.

Stupid cow. The child should be removed from her.

After not being able biologically to have our own children for 7 years of our marriage, we have "adopted" our most beautiful son. He is now exactly 2 years and he is our world now. Is there any possibility that we can adopt this beautiful child? We give all our love and affection. We will be most grateful if someone can support us. Thank you!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have no right to say any words about her and to her as I never walked in her shoes during her pregnancy, delivery, and trying hard for taking care of this wonderful child for one year maybe alone without enough moral and financial support. At least, the child is safe now.

43?

So she gave birth at 42?!

Wow

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

This woman is completely irresponsible! as for the punishment, well, leave her in a room with 20 woman who CANT have babies and would souly love to have one, I am sure they will point out how irresponsible she is. If she still does not want this child I am sure that a family would only be to willing to adopt the boy.

Three words for the mother: Burn. In. Hell.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

A one year old has just started to walk, and if it actually is a boy, just barely started to walk. How did the kid get out of the baby car, walk over to the door, jump up to open it and get out on the street?

Should not the staff at the lace be charged also?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

So... where the father of this child and why isn’t HE stepping up and taking his child away from a woman clearly unfit to parent? I’m guessing not involved and a stressed out single mom. At the end of the day, it’s that poor, innocent boy who is going to pay the price for being born to two folks who shouldn’t have a kid. The system here for unwanted kids is horrific.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Where is the father. There are two negligent parents here.

Never get pregnant if you're not prepared.

Sometimes people don't choose to get pregnant, it happens in spite of precautions to the contrary.

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

Japanese press says she is unemployed.

Maybe she had the kid to collect the child cash.
