Mother arrested for stabbing two daughters in Ibaraki

Police on Monday arrested a 38-year-old woman for stabbing her two daughters, 9 and 3, with a fruit knife at their home in Ryugasaki City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The daughters suffered minor injuries to their chest and stomach, police said.

The mother, who is unnamed because police believe she may be mentally ill, was arrested for allegedly stabbing her daughters on the first floor of their house around 7 a.m. Her husband, who was sleeping on the second floor, was awakened by her shouting and the cries of the girls, and he called an ambulance, police said.

The husband told police that his wife has been stressed out by her child-rearing duties recently.

As usual, why even have kids with a women like that ?

thank the good Lord the girls are okay... but it's a sick world when parents are trying to kill their children.

and he called an ambulance

I was starting to think that was impossible in this country. Seems every other time somebody comes across a wounded person in need of MEDICAL aid, they call the useless j-cops.

poor kids! but why this mother is not supervised?!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh..motherhood can be a wonderful thingh. But when you start at 30 and you are hysterical to begin with...it IS difficult. Last month a mother stabbed her son because he would listen to her...or was it two months ago. Maybe she was a victim of domestic violence. I guess the stress of having the father sleeping was too much for her. This poor poor woman has probably been sexually abused by her monsterous husband. Maybe that's why he was sleeping..he was tired from terrorizing his wife and daughters. Oh...the poor woman!!!

PS..I hope the little girls can be saved from becoming like their mommy!!

So the father knows the mother's stressed out with the childcare. What's his solution? Help her? Heaven forbid. No, he goes to sleep after telling her, "ganbarre".

A fruit, "...with a fruit knife".

Was it really a fruit knife, or one of those "dangerous" (Oh, MY!!!) banned blades that are classified as swords? How many of these fruity swords are in the hands of otherwise fruitful moms; and can the ubiquitous fruit sword ever again regain its innocence in kitchens across Japan?

Notginger:

And you know the father went to sleep when? How do you know he does not work nights and had been home a few hours? Monday was a holiday and the kids were off school, why up so early? She did it and I think it's a little hard to point fingers at others with the little information provided. But flames are the word of the day at JT. Fatloser same to you, throw more gas. "Maybe".

Damn, a hell of a lot of Japanese people stab their own family members

"she may be mentally ill"

You have to be mentally ill to stab 9 year old and 3 year old girls. Or just evil.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Have her head checked and then discipline her...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Police believe she 'may' be mentally ill...

Stabbing your own children is possibly a normal thing to do?

Monday was a holiday and the kids were off school, why up so early?

Kids have to be pried out of their beds when it's a schoolday. They're automatically up at the crack of dawn when it isn't. The 3-year-old wouldn't be in school yet anyway and maybe not in kindergarten either, so that little one would be up early 365 days a year.

Unfortunately in Japan the husband works and the wife looks after the kids and house (for the most part anyway). This could be one of the reasons as to why weve been hearing about women doing some crazy things lately...but...thats life in Japan and it still seems to be what the nation wants. If mothers dont feel useful or are depressed for some reason then they should do other things or change their lives but dont do what everyone else is doing or because your parents/friends/politicians etc. told you so... Grow up and think for yourselves and dont feel shame because it isnt what the other 125 million are doing. Women in general are second class citizens in Japan.

Sorry to say but children "for the most part" in this country are nothing more than mere possessions. And are handled as such. People here have stronger emotional bonds with their mobile phones than they do with their own flesh and blood.

Perhaps Japan opened its physical border in 1850 but they need to open their consciousness border now that their women are equal even in certain instances higher than mans authority.

It seems that many Japanese mothers cannot raise a kid, because it is to stressfull, sent those mothers to third world countries where they have 11 children and no electrical appliances to do all the houswork (just like my grandmother did)

time to build nut houses.

I have objection if someone say in 3rd world countries people have 11 children, trust me, people in third world country think twice before planning another child... they a serious about child and they raise them with lots of love

I disagree that "Women in general are second class citizens in Japan." I think that they are only seen as second class citizens outside of the home, but the home is seen as the larger part of society. Society outside the home is secondary to the home, which it functions to support. It is in the home where women hold sway. All this responsibility leads to some destructive behaviour, especially by Japanese women within the home.

I think that violence among family memembers is much lower in Japan that the US or UK, and there is more violence between men in male-centered Western societies in general.

thank God the butcher knife was not in site.

these really very alarming!!!

Sure she is mentally ill, and that is no excuse to publish her name. It is public rights to know who she is. Even a photograph should be inserted. She committed the crime, and that is solid as gold. If she is mentally ill, what was she doing at home with children? She should be in metal institution. I think law in Japan need some changes.

More than anything its the monetary stress, its about not getting a job and the kids costing preciouse money so she killed them, well thay have a saying in Japan If you cant take the heat kill them kill them all!!!

The husband told police that his wife has been stressed out by her child->rearing duties recently...

Why didnt you help your wife, apparantly you identified the problem with your wife!!!

I cant believe this guy had the nerve to say, "HER child rearing duties..."

Japan, get out of the dark ages, face your social issues and woman, LIBERATE yourselves ...PLEASE!!!

She might be mentally ill eh? Well I would never have concluded that. Of course she's got a screw loose to attack her own kids.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Spidey: If that's true of the people you know please meet some new people. Japanese families can be as loving or as cold or as crazy as anywhere else in the world.

As usual, why even have kids with a women like that ?

it was probably an accident. Many guys in that country get excited touching a woman.

A gruesome chilling story

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ALHQQ - Thats exactly what I thought as well. What the hell, why didn't the father help out then if he knew his wife was stressed out? Marriage is 2 people, not 1, a father and a mother, and if one isn't involved with the kids, they're failing as a parent.
