Police in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, said Wednesday they have arrested a 38-year-old woman on suspicion of strangling her 3-year-old son to death.
According to police, Saki Suzuki used a towel to strangle her son Daiki at their home on Tuesday morning, Fuji TV reported. She then called 110 at around noon and said she had killed her son.
Police found Daiki unconscious in the living room. He was taken to hospital where he died about two hours later.
Police said Suzuki lived with her son and husband who was at work on Tuesday. They added that she has so far given no motive for killing her son.

Another life sadly taken! A mother, maybe alone all day with her child, possibly mental health issues, wait, HAVE to be mental health issues as no mother takes the life of her child in any manner, no one to assist.
I hope she gets the help she needs!

no one to assist? it's only one kid. I hope she gets the Justice she deserves

I have a 3 year old son. This is just absolutely heartbreaking.

But is the process that simple in Japan? Heck, people have to go to Kumamoto to get to the baby hatch.

So, he is 3 years old. Which means in April, he would be able to enter hoikuen / yochien.
And at 3 yo, this is well past the normal post-partum depression period. And there is no reference to any other siblings.
So, why now???

Weakness or not, mental help is greatly needed over there and people need to sell help... Forceably or volunteer...

You know, this is really disgusting that we see stories like this almost on a daily basis here (Japan). I guess some married couples don't understand the reality concept of "marriage" and "family," rather than being sucked into that famous wedding commercial jingle (La, la, lalaala, la, la, - Japanese teen girls singing this) and the so-called set perfect married life.
At least how I understand it is that marriage is based on a family bond with love, communication, and support for each other. I've been married for at least 15 years (to a great Japanese lady) and have 3 great girls. Yes, we do have our arguments and disagreements about many things, even the little things. And yes, my wife has thrown me out of the house for not using the right bags for trash, but I think her feelings went way beyond that.
Besides that, I try to instill the importance of said married values. My kids are sometimes rambunctious and feel like grabbing them by their necks. However, I manage to stop myself by taking a breather, since I realize that my actions reflect me and I want to my kids to understand their mistakes without violence.
Sorry everyone, enough rambling. However, I just hope others will take time with their families and be supportive of each other.

Yes... prison. She deserves Nothing less, and a whole lot more. But, TIJ... she'll likely get 1 to 2 years tops, if anything. RIP to the helpless child who only wanted love from a parent, but found death from a murderer. This is a DAILY occurrence here, and we need to get the word out more instead of the knee-jerk denial on the issue and arguments about those pointing it out.

This has NOTHING to do with Mental Issues !!! Saki is just plain EVIL !!! Lots of commentators always think it's mental issues and that seems to be the answer when a parent kills a child. Forget that Mental Issue phrase it's over rated and useless. Lets see Saki is 38 years old so it took 38 years plus some months for her mental issues to come to the surface when she happens to be alone with her 3 year old son, now if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn N.Y to sell you. She is just EVIL and should swing by the Hangman's Noose.

R.I.P Little fella. Sorry someone was not there to save you...

Oh, have you interviewed her? Please, tell us more, since you are the only one here who has done so.

Unfortunately it happens across the world on a daily basis. This is not a Japan specific thing, sadly it's a human thing.

Yes we do not know the mother, this article barely gave us anything about the current situation of the family. I really want to pity her and believe that she is hopeless and needs mental help BUT this is straight up murder. We are talking about a wonderful 3 year old child that she strangled!!!
