Mother, boyfriend filmed themselves abusing her 3-year-old son before his death

Police in Settsu, Osaka Prefecture, say a 23-year-old woman and her 24-year-old boyfriend filmed themselves abusing her three-year-old son and making jokes about it before the child died after being scalded with hot water in August.

On Wednesday, police arrested the mother, Juki Niimura, on suspicion of fatally abusing her son Orito, Fuji TV reported. Her boyfriend, Takumi Matsubara, was arrested in September.

Police arrested Niimura after finding videos on her smartphone, in which Niimura hits her son repeatedly with a pillow on June 20. She and Matsubara can also be heard laughing as the child cries, police said. In another video filmed the same day, Matsubara can be seen punching and slapping Orito’s face.

Matsubara was arrested on Sept 22 on suspicion of scalding Orito to death with hot shower water at their apartment on Aug 31.

After his arrest, Matsubara told police he and Orito were only playing in the shower together, Kyodo News reported. He said he stepped out of the bathroom to set the shower water temperature higher and found the boy collapsed when he returned.

In May, Niikura consulted the local government in Settsu about Matsubara allegedly abusing Orito, but the city's consultation center concluded the situation at the time did not require any protective measures for the child.

I'm a strong advocate of punishing child abusers the same way they abused the child. It'd be nice for the public to be able to walk by and pour boiling water on them too.

Sick pieces of Dog Manure. They should get life without possibility of parole. The fact that they filmed it and joked about torturing a 3 year old toddler makes it that much worse. They should NEVER be let out.

Even better, send them to a US prison and tell the inmates there what they did.

Typical USELESS civil servants who just sit on their butts and collect fat checks.

In May, the mother consulted the gov’t about the man abusing the child but the gov’t ‘concluded’ it did not require protective measures. - So, in June, she joins in the abuse and starts filming it ??

“No quarter, no mercy” for either.

AND, the government officials, from those consulted to field investigators to overseeing supervisors, need to be held accountable for their negligence. An ‘independent outside’ investigation of the local offices needs to be conducted, immediately to see if there is other ongoing complacency.

yank out her uterus and cut off his testicles some people should have no right to reproduce

Why is this always a blockhead refrain? "Yeah, in a US prison, they'd get it...."

The irrational side of me says they should be flayed alive in acid. The rational side says they should be locked up forever.

And the justice part says, heads need to roll at that 'Consultation' centre. Much sucking of teeth and head-cocking no doubt.

Child abusers are the lowest of the low, and these two, if and when convicted deserve to be placed in a hole so deep...... makes my blood boil!

15 ( +17 / -2 )

If anything deserves death sentences, it is this!

19 ( +23 / -4 )

This just makes me sick to the stomache with anger and sadness at the same time. Poor little man had to end up with these scumbags as carers!

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Talk about individuals that need to be permanently fixed immediately, throw some acid on various parts of their body, and be given hard labor for the rest of their lives.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

These two are sickening individuals. Make sure they get sent into the worst possible prison environment for the next two decades minimum.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

If found guilty, hang both of the scum with no hesitation. There is no greater crime. Not a single tear will be shed. They have lost their rights to exist in any society.

Rest in Peace to the poor little boy, away from the two animals who did not deserve you.

I feel diminished as a human after reading this.

I expect them to spend the rest of their natural lives in our harshest prison. What I want to happen to the civil servants - a custodial sentence for manslaughter - and what I expect to happen are polar opposites, sadly.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

So sad about kids bringing forth kids. Now they can't handle a kid's stress, they laughed at their own blood then killed him. all cos they wanted freedom. I guess jail is the best place for their freedom.

What a shocking headline and story. Being a parent myself, I think back to when my children were three. Probably the best times of my life.

All the wonderful and funny things they did and said. Children are so wonderful and innocent.

What would or could ever make an adult do that to their own child?

Very, very, very severe punishment needed for this one.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Why is this always a blockhead refrain? "Yeah, in a US prison, they'd get it...."

they would. You think otherwise?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

I just can't imagine the poor suffering the child went through, especially suffering by the people who were supposed to be protecting him.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

It seems like everyday there's a story about evil like this. What's with these f***d up people?!

It seems like they're only purpose in reproducing is so they can torture their offspring to death.

Yeah, but what's the point in dishing out cruelty in the name of cruelty. We are where violence and cruelty should stop, not where it just continues.

The only solution to cruelty is the opposite of cruelty, kindness so matter what; that's what you want to permeate throughout life and society, so that's what we focus on.

Everyone involved in this case should be held responsible, including those damn social service workers who were absolutely complacent and negligent in their handling of the matter. Why wasn't there a follow up on this case? The government rants on and on about a declining birth rate but can't be stuffed to take proper care of the little ones that the country already has. Abhorrent.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

There are no words to describe how horrible these "people" are, and the public servants involved are worse than useless - they're culpable as well for failing to act when they knew the extent of the problem. What makes it worse is the problem is far from isolated on both sides.

While not reducing the responsibility of these criminals, there's a pretty good chance they were abused themselves as kids, and are perpetuating the cycle.

Although not graphical, as a parent this article made me feel sick :( . I know executing these two subhumans won't really happen, but it's a waste of taxes to keep them alive.

Absolutely right, they should not be allowed to hide or be hidden. They need to be identified and fully investigated and then, if guilty in any way shape or form, be suitable punished. But it won't happen, never does it seems. Quiet internal review with a promise to learn from mistakes made etc. etc. etc.

Such sad stories recently.

Rest in peace, little man.

The parents are vile. I hope they die

“In May, Niikura consulted the local government in Settsu about Matsubara allegedly abusing Orito, but the city's consultation center concluded the situation at the time did not require any protective measures for the child.”

how many times do we have to hear about these people never doing their jobs, and nothing being done about it? They should all be fired, for starters, and those who refused to help should be imprisoned.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Punish them to the full extent of the law and be quick about it.

This really makes me upset they thought it was humorous.

Evil parents.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Punishment should match the crime, scald them to death with hot water. But, do it slowly.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Mothers always protect their kids because the know what nine months mean to them. they love their kids because they know the pains they went through. I still can't figure out why she was the one taking videos.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Sad reality of young parents where they just started a new family life .. I believe the rest of their useless life will be in prison where the roles would be reversed ... from abuser to being abused!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

bring back stoning for people like these.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

"Mothers always protect their kids because the know what nine months mean to them"

In most countries this would be true. But here a single mum is more interested in having a man in her life. Unfortunately many men here don't enjoy, cope in dealing with others kids. Sad sad aspect of Japan. Most child abuse cases involve a single mum and her new man.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Everyone here spouting vitriol and vengeance at these individuals fail to see this attitude is the heart of the problem - these people probably grew up in a similar environment where they were socially conditioned to be unkind and uncaring towards others.

To solve the problem you need to change the culture that lacks compassion and understanding of others, including those who do 'bad' things, because nobody alive has not done 'bad' things to others.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

This pair of psychopaths should be sterilized, medicated and put in padded cells for the foreseeable future and beyond. That said, their mental states need to be studied (with their family histories) and released only when they have shown they are capable of rehabilitation and no longer pose a threat to others.

Letsberealistc in LaLaLand:

Dude, those two boiled to death a three year old kid while filming themselves and having fun doing it. "bad things" is the understatement of the year here, don't you think?

0 ( +5 / -5 )

not only that, she later complained to a friend about not receiving child support anymore because her kid was dead.

these people are monsters and need to be hung. set an example!

0 ( +5 / -5 )

*hanged

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

So BOTH of them were torturing the kid? Simply horrible.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Is this a wide-spread problem or just bizarre crackpot criminals getting on the internet for doing horrendous unimaginable things?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Death penalty...enough said.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

This is the saddest and most angering story in Japan that I have read in a long time.

I would call them animals but animals wouldn't do what they did.

And the system has failed another child. The city should also be ashamed of itself.

In my daily life, it seems that most people are good. But when I read about things like what happened in the article, it shakes my faith in mankind.

In my daily life, it seems that most people are good. But when I read about things like what happened in the article, it shakes my faith in mankind.

Practically any human being is capable of doing such things given the right (or wrong) environment and mental conditioning. I just thank my lucky stars that I wasn't.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

This and many articles on J news leave me speechless at the depth of depravity that some people will go to, to deliberately scalding a child and inflict deep pain, and then think its funny, and then film it, WTF? we all know about the "Japanese legal hostage system" I am in favour for it when it comes to these two pieces of **, question then 24/7 just give then enough waste food to live on, throw then in a 3x4meter cell with a 20 watt lightbulb.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@letsberealistic

Thanks

Adding violence to violence is never going to stop violence.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

You have to wonder what sort of upbringing and background these two would have to commit such a heinous crime. RIP little fella. You deserved better. (Sad)

WTF?

Sick piece of human waste any way you look at them...

Anyway, yet another kid failed by the system. Expect public outrage, political promises and another kid dead somewhere down the road. Wash, rince, repeat...Depressing.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I don't understand. Human beings don't behave that way towards their own young, animals don't either as far as I know. So what sort of creatures are these two?

And the total absence of a biological father who is presumably off enjoying his "second life" somewhere.

Not that it makes them any less monsters, but just to clarify they didn't film the incident where the boy died. I think the boyfriend did that on his own.

They filmed a separate incident where they were knocking him down with cushions, which is also technically "before his death", but the title is misleading...

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And the total absence of a biological father who is presumably off enjoying his "second life" somewhere.

We know nothing about the father, and the father may know nothing about the boy, so let's not make assumptions. We do know the mother was abusing her child and only seemed interested in getting child support. We do know that officials met with her many times yet still came to the conclusion everything was fine, despite people telling them flat out the boy was getting abused.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Hard to read, Hard to believe, sometimes it is better to NOT even report this especially when children are involved.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

IF they were arrested in the US an put in prison they may get a sentence by the courts but inside prison rules the molesting or murder of a child is automatic death sentence by other prison inmates.
