Mutilated remains of rabbits stolen from kindergartens found in parks

The mutilated remains of rabbits believed to have been stolen from two kindergartens in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, have been found in a park, police said.

According to police, the first theft occurred on Jan 17 at a kindergarten in Kohoku Ward. One rabbit went missing, Fuji TV reported.

Then on Jan 25, two more rabbits were stolen from a neighboring kindergarten. A security camera in the vicinity managed to capture footage of a suspicious person carrying the animals away.

On Jan 30, the chopped-up remains of rabbits were found at two separate parks in Kohoku Ward.

Police said the person responsible faces arrest on suspicion of theft and violation of the Animal Welfare Law.

Good. I hope that the penalty will be severe and not just a slap on the wrist or a small fine.

Hope they catch him before he moves on to kindergarteners. This is one sick sociopath.

Some really sick people out there who really do need to be caught; someone knows who they are.

However, I can't say that I don't harbour evil thoughts towards the rabbits who got into my garden and decimated my cabbages last week.

His dad was Bulgarian, and his mom was Ukrainian. She divorced his dad and became an "internet bride". Moved when he was 10 to Texas, mom divorced again and moved to NY when he was 15. Shy but not apparently crazy. Ex-stepfsther surprised. Don't know why this info is so hard to come by in Japanede media.

As a vegetarian and someone with a 3 year old, I can’t comprehend the psychological effect this must have on the kids.

He'll face charges for killing a few rabbits, but Japan euthanizes countless stray dogs everyday. Seems a bit hypocritical.
