Probably SONY is more interested and busy to find how it is hacked than blaming N Korea or accepting joint investigation, Here in USA, media comment ers and govt officials are too busy in blaming N Korea than finding out how things are hacked. Where hacked materials were gone, etc.

I think the fat little freak appearing on South Park is a great idea. Cartman could hack him.

Jerseyboy: First off, if you knew anything at all about hacking, (I didn't realize you are an "expert hacker") you'd know that as soon as the U.S. laid out for NK the manner in which it tracked the hack back to NK, it would be opening up confidential information to a stated enemy.) It would be like telling someone how you broke their code in WW II. Tracing a hack only means you were able to follow the trail back, which the US has already made that claim. They don't have to cough up the specs of their technology nor the inner workings of it. Your using the same excuses the NSA is using, (related to us finding out that they have been spying on everybody) We still don't know exactly how they do it, we only know, they DO do it.

stuart -- actually, I founded, established and subsequently sold a technology-based company that stored large amounts of data for my clients, including financial institutions, consumer-goods companies, automotive manufacturers, etc. So data security was at the top of my corporate priorites, so I am reasonably well-versed in hacking. So, as you say, since the U.S. has already explained, in a fair amount of detail, including tracing back to specific malware associated with previous NK hacks, the trail they followed, what more do they owe NK? Plus, since the U.S. is thrying to enlist China's assistance in controlling NK hacks, you can be assured the Chinese have demanded some pretty convincing evidence. Sharing anything, even a cup of coffee, with NK at this time is giving them a legitamcy they do not deserve.

With all the 'perceived' power that the U.S. wields whether through its own promo adverts or through Hollywood, how fricken hard would it be for the U.S. to put its money where its mouth is and send in one of those magical unicorn, rainbow crapping seal teams to take out that thug fatty dear leader? Really, how hard? Would anyone on this planet not blame the U.S. EVEN if it wasn't them that 'offed' the hermit nutter?!

At this point, one REALLY has to wonder, how many more in NK must die or continue suffering because no one lifts a finger to extinguish this NK nutter regime.

I'm sure China is already fed with the nutter doormat and it's far more trouble than it's worth.

I'm sure that SK would want this nutter removed and peace returned to the region. Ditto for Japan.

While I see no reason that Japan would hide getting rid of NK and unifying the Koreas, I see hidden reasons that SK and China would still hedge bets on keeping a dear leader lite in power. I'm sure most of you aware of the regional politics know what I'm referring to so are we surprised?

They are guessing, they have absolutely no idea who did it. Like Snowden, first it was the Chinese, then the Russians then Sino Russian collaboration. Lets see whose name come out the hat next. Just don't believe any of this propaganda they expect 99% of the world to accept on their say so, facts intelligence guys facts.

A joint probe?

The US bends over (again) and NK conducts the probe.

politics 101

Yep and when i murder someone i will help with the investigation. lmao what idiots.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Is NK using a strategy to make them look innocent by helping in the investigation? OR Is the US using this as an opportunity to put NK to more sanctions?

Let's find out on the next episode of, Sony Z!

so North Korea already have deadliest weapon in the World !!!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Is this kind of like when DPRK proposed a joint probe with Japan to resolve the abductee issue, and then somehow wasn't able to provide any information unless Japanese representatives came to North Korea personally, and then somehow wasn't able to provide much useful, conclusive information even then?

Everyone here knows how this dance goes, right? The Kim family only knows two steps: 1) Threaten a fiery armageddon they can't possibly pull off when they want something, and 2) pretend to want to hold talks when they want something. What's amazing is that they've performed this dance for as long as they've been named to the "Axis of Evil" and every time people react like they think this time it will all be different.

On Friday, President Barack Obama declared that Sony "made a mistake" in shelving the satirical film about a plot to assassinate the North Korean leader, and pledged the U.S. would respond "in a place and manner and time that we choose" to the hacking attack on Sony that led to the movie's withdrawal.

"I wish they had spoken to me first. ... We cannot have a society in which some dictator someplace can start imposing censorship," Obama said at a year-end news conference, speaking of executives at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

After all of the hard decisions had already been made, Obama leads from behind by telling SONY they made the wrong choice without consulting him. Then he goes to Hawaii for a little holiday golf. Can you drive a golf ball from Hawaii to North Korea?

Jerseyboy: Lol, laying out the proof does NOT give them the technology used to acquire it! Learning how to develop technology is not the same as "giving direct access" as you said. Secondly, when you accuse someone of something, YOU DO owe (whoever that may be) PROOF. Lastly, the US response is likely to be in the form of Hacking something in NK, childish? Yes! Two wrongs don't make a right no matter how you want to spin it.

I almost do not know where to start. First off, if you knew anything at all about hacking, you'd know that as soon as the U.S. laid out for NK the manner in which it tracked the hack back to NK, it would be opening up confidential information to a stated enemy. It would be like telling someone how you broke their code in WW II. Second, The U.S. OWES NK NOTHING. NK likely cost a company lawfully doing business in the U.S. billions of dollars due to this hack. This is not a court of law and the U.S. does not need to give in to any demands of NK. Finally, no matter what the manner in which the U.S. responds, classifying it as a "wrong" is simply nonesense. NK is a rogue state that starves and murders its own people so an illegitimate regime can stay in power. Punishing them for an act of cyber-terrorism is the opposite of wrong.

Who says Pyongyang doesn't have a sense of humor? The son of Pyongyang Elvis must be laughing his socks off at this. To drive the stake in a little further, next he will be offering interviews to Letterman or perhaps appearing on Southpark.

Bring. It. On.

@Stuart hayward As a criminal regime for their human rights record they are owed being turned into a country of fused silica. Anyone who enjoys the act of dropping nuclear bombs on a whole country has very deep issues and probably is no better than the exstremist they want to kill.

We have a way to prove that we have nothing to do with the case without resorting to torture, as what the CIA does, [North Korea] said.

LOL Yeah ... I guess all the UN and Amnesty International reports, in addition to what dozens of escaped dissidents have to say, is untrue then.

Once North Korea gets the information on how the U.S. knows it is North Korea who did the hacking, North Korea will just disappear and use it to their advantage later on.

Exactly, now let's see if Obama is smart enough to see THIS writing on the wall.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I totally agree with Jerseyboy! Once North Korea gets the information on how the U.S. knows it is North Korea who did the hacking, North Korea will just disappear and use it to their advantage later on. Very good comments, Jerseyboy. My first thought after reading this was VERY INTERESTING as ArtistAtLarge commented. And I kind of chucked when it was brought up to have a joint investigation with U.S. officials. Let's officially end the war and then think about that!

A ccoding to CNN report ( can;t trust them because they seem ignorant of existence of DVD player artrached to TV) SONY will release this movie to free for American people online. But my guess is DVD sales.

It says original hackers threatened not to release forever.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

America saying North Korea did this has nothing to do with action against north Korea and everything with what Obama said about regulating the Internet.

You mean regulating it to preserv¥ a free and open internet rather than letting the companies start using it to make ridiculous amounts of money off the common man? You should be thanking Obama for that.

This whole thing is a white flag to take away or only free information tool.

Proposing a joint investigation, the US should take them up on that. What does the US have to loose by proving to everyone that their findings are truthful?

You're joking right? Seriously??? When has N. Korea EVER said ANYTHING that was believable?!! I just laugh at that offer, moving on....

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Jerseyboy: Please explain how sending a few US IT guys to confirm or disprove findings, would lead to NK gaining direct access to all our counter terrorism technology?

Stuart -- you're kdding, right? Laying out the proof for them would let them know exactly what ways we have identified that trace back to NK. As soon as we do that, they know that jig is up, and develop other paths. But, more to the point, the U.S. owes NK nothing. To cow-tow to Kim in order to "prove" what he will just disparage anyway is simply nonsense. You don't reward childish behavior, you punish it. Which, as Obama said, we will do in a manner and time of our choosing.

N. Korea may be innocent. Some tech investigators say the job appears to have come from inside Sony perhaps by a disgruntled employee.

To date, the evidence against Pyongyang has been circumstantial.

Hogwash. All NK wants is a global stage on which to grandstand and access to the U.S. counter-terrorism technology. Taking them up on their offer would just be giving terrorists one more "victory".

1 ( +8 / -7 )

Another nonsense barking from the shameless mafia Gangs Of Pyongyang. Just a matter of time, these dictators will pay the price like Saddam Hussein. N.Korean mass are the victim of few super selfish exploiters that supported by communist China in using them as China's buffer zone. Censorship and intimidation only work in N.Korea and not the world. Ban Ki Moon should speak out against these thugs who are committing crime against humanity.

Sony announced it decided not to release on Dec. 25 but it is checking on releasing with other platform. If it sells with DVD and Blue /ray HD, a lot of income than theater releasing income. Or maybe release on TV channels that has been SONY Picture's customers for a quite while. It is easy to watch a movie on TV than go to Theater. You can make popcorn in Micro Oven and get soda from your referigilator. You can relax on your sofa, too. If you don;t like, you can switch to TV program.

It is just business decision.

This reminds meof the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the 9/11"Attack", both which were "Hollywood" scrypts by the CIA, NSA, and DoD. I Am not surprised that this, as well as the disappearance of MH375 flight are products of the same manipulators of public opinion.

The NSA who monitors the stuff in real time could have stopped that attack?

This is very interesting.
