Police in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, said Thursday that the naked body of a boy found floating in the Tama River earlier this month, is that of a boy who has been missing from his home in Yokohama.
According to police, the boy's mother made the identification of the body which was found floating face-up and completely nude, at around 5:30 p.m. on Dec 2, Fuji TV reported. Police said an autopsy revealed the cause of death as drowning. There were no external signs of injury on the body.
Police said the boy belonged to a gang and believe he may have had some trouble with other members of the group. The boy's mother reported him missing to police at around 8 p.m. on the night his body was found. Police said the woman told them she hadn't seen her son since late November.© Japan Today
