A needle was found in sandfish at a Daiei supermarket in Sapporo, the 13th such case in the same store since August, police said Tuesday.
According to police, a customer spotted the needle in the fish on Monday afternoon, TV Asahi reported. The needle was 3.5 cm long.
Police suspect that someone put the needle in the displayed package sometime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and are analyzing security camera footage to try and identify the culprit.
Police said there have been 13 similar cases since August at the same store, involving a total of 16 needles in pastries and everyday dishes.© Japan Today
