A newborn baby boy, with his umbilical cord still attached, was left in a park toilet in Kagoshima, police said Sunday.
According to police, a visitor found the infant wrapped in a towel and placed in a cardboard box in Taniyama Ryokuchi Park at around 4 p.m. Saturday and contacted police, Sankei Shimbun reported. The baby was rushed to hospital and his life is not in danger, police said.
Hospital officials said the baby was born a few days ago.
Police said they are examining nearby surveillance camera footage to try and identify who brought the baby to the toilet and when.

If you ever talk to women who have given up kids for adoption, you'll find out they invariably don't look in the mirror and feel good about themselves.

Toilet, Bathroom, Restroom .... What does it really matter what's it's called ... regardless what you call it, It's full of Germs - Bacteria and who knows what else ... The point here is the New Born Baby not the word translation of the place the baby was found .... Da ...

What the HELL is wrong with these women ??? Carrying a child in there stomach for 9 months feeling it grow, move and kick then giving birth and than dumping the new born child - this time in a toilet ... several months ago a child was dumped in a river .... If you do not want the responsibility of motherhood then KEEP your legs closed. How can this mother look herself in the mirror and feel good about herself ??

Was born a few days ago, wow that was a miracle, how this baby was survived?

Wish I could adopt the baby, so inhuman and this is in Japan, terrible.Since I am Gaikoku-jin, I bet it is not possible to adopt here.Japan has so much petty crime still.

My heart goes out to the mother, as usual, we know nothing of her story and what horrors she might have had to face.
As for the obvious medical procedure, it's a difficult choice to make and not taken lightly, as those who have had it carried out will know only too well.

2 points.
1: why not leave the new entrant in a hospital toilet, or at the reception waiting room or whatever?
2: schools should teach about morning after pills, contraception and termination. Hospitals should have an anonymous sexual health service. Termination should be free and confidential. Councilly also.
i have a room if nobody wants this small human...

The whole room/facility is called the toilet. It is not a bathroom - not a tub anywhere in sight.
Thankfully the little boy is OK. Hopefully he will find a nice family to be a part of.
Could be the mother is a young girl with no idea what to do, no access to either abortion or maternity services, no money, no partner.
The child is safe, now they need to find the child who bore him and make sure she's OK, too.

I wish the headline read "restroom" or "bathroom" instead of "toilet". I imagined it was left in the watery bowl.
(I know a "toilet" is also used to describe a restroom but the distinction should be made a bit clearer in the headline.)

At least the kid wasn't actually IN the Toilet, as the title of this story suggests.

Anyone knows where to adopt these type of babies from in Tokyo?

@clamenza
It makes even less sense than to kill the baby in the womb as you suggest
How so? Unless you are anti abortion. If heavy cost involve in having abortion then that is a different story.

In case of 2nd trimester abortion :

There are obstacles in any cases.

I'm just glad the little guy is alive. that's all. But this bit of news is still heartbreaking
Wiskal
If you don't plan to keep the baby, why not have abortion when there was a chance? You carried it for 9 months and left it at the park makes not much sense.

God bless the little guy. Hes off to a rough start in life, but at least hes alive.

There is a definite need to have those baby hatches all over the country. Gladly, this baby is alive.

Come on, if the person who abandoned this baby didn't care about his life, she would have dumped him bare naked.
This is certainly someone desperate, who had no other idea what to do. Once again, Japan needs baby hatches !

Maternity clinics need stricter screening measures to label "at risk" parents and to council them appropriately in pregnancy termination options. This is attempted murder, she needs to be caught and harshly punished

Sometimes animals eat their newborns. And usually humans will sacrifice their lives for their own. These things happen. At least the baby is alive. I can only hope she finds a good life. Not easy to get adopted here, and those who grow up as wards of the state have the odds stacked against them from an early age.
I just wonder why these women go through with the birth in the first place.

Sickening.
And to think animal species nearly sacrifice their lives to save their newborn.
