Newborn baby dies after being abandoned in Tottori

Obviously too few facts available to adequately rant and rave, but still, how terrible. Has it been established that the baby actually died AFTER being abandoned? Or was it a stillborn child and they dumped the body?

If they abandoned a helpless newborn child out in the freezing cold of Tottori, then perpetrator should be charged with infanticide. How murdering a child can be seen as an easier option than leaving the baby at an orphanage or hospital is beyond me.

It's bad enough abandoning a baby, but it's even worse when they leave it somewhere dangerous where it can die of exposure.

Just sad.

These stories are a monthly thing over the last five years. What I have been noticing lately... if something inconveniences these young people in anyway they toss it on the ground for another to find. I see guys (grown men too) open a pack if ciggies and just toss the wrapper on the ground without even a second thought, like this. PapaSmurf is right... too few facts but I have no idea why a girl/woman would go through 7-9 months of pregnancy and toss a human life on the ground like the above but I can only speculate it was going to inconvenience her or the couple. Horrible crime especially to your own blood but then again the father may have been a piece of trash or jobless loser. I still point half the blame at the welfare (adoption) system. Time to get into the 21st century and the way things are going I only expect it to keep happening.

The people responsible for this deserve the electric chair, too bad that isn't possible in Japan.

There was a similar incident in Yokohama last week. This baby was also found without clothing near some apartment, but was lucky enough to be found shortly after he was abandoned. Now this one is found dead. How can human beings come up with such cruel ideas?

That is some of the saddest news I've ever read! WTF is wrong with people these days that they can be so cold-hearted and lacking compassion???

And so many people here voiced concern over baby-hatches. Tsk tsk. The parents of this baby should be charged with murder.

Haven't had one of these for a while. Hope they find person/s responsible, but I doubt if they will be charged with murder. Just abandoning a body.

It takes a special kind of cold-heartedness to dump a newborn baby, whatever the mother might be going through. Short of complete mental breakdown where you are not aware of what you are even doing, there is no excuse. Don`t want it? Leave it at a hospital/police station/anywhere where it can be found and cared for. Why should an innocent newborn pay for its mothers and fathers mistake with its own life?

Not enough info here as papasmurfinjapan mentioned already. Did the baby die after birth, then abandoned? Was the baby a stillborn? ...or was the baby alive when abandoned? Either way, very disturbing news. We also have the usual posts jumping to conclusions and commenting as if they know the parents murdered the infant.

This kind of news, just so sad and makes me sick! RIP little innocent baby from Tottori.

so sad ... so so sad. I actually kind of hope that the baby was stillborn so it didnt have to suffer. However either way ... so sad :(

Murder or otherwise this is horrible. How could anyone abandon a baby (alive or dead) on a plot of wasteground??! Disgusting.
