Karma... I have never seen such stupidity and hara-kiri done by a company before.

Saikawa did what Ghosn did and he only resigned. Nothing happened...

They just tried so hard to tarnish Ghosn's reputation and they tanked instead.

Hopefully, Mitsubishi didn't get a toll outta this one.

What I don't understand is if they're going to give Ghosn the payment.

Hang on! If they are charging Nissan with underreporting Ghosn’s salary how can they charge Ghosn with the sane thing? Why was he arrested for something that the company was responsible for? Furthermore, why were he and Kelly the only ones arrested? This just makes it look like Ghosn was scapegoated and railroaded, as he has stated all along.

And what about that dirtbag Saikawa?

no prosecution there?

he keeps most of what he got and gets a pension?

next step for him is a high level high pay beaurocracy gig?

Still minus the full facts. Lots of blame thrown around with accusations not backed up with clear evidence. Surely Nissan is guilty of a crime, and surely Ghosn is guilty of failing to discover crimes committed under his leadership. However, it still remains unclear who is guilty of what exactly and with damning evidence. The Japanese prosecutor would as usual be happy with accusations alone enough to elicit admission of guilt.

Just wondering. When the fine is paid, where will the money end to and who will benefit from this enormous amount of money?

The blame should always stop with the head of the corporation in this sort of problem.

Either Carlos knew and allowed and benefited himself too along with HUGE benefits like company paid for multiple mansion houses, multiple jets, lavish private functions etc etc...

Or he knew nothing about any of this and was grossly incompetent.. Really? Have you ever seen him speak in public? He tries to dominate everyone.

But he lived there long enough to know what goes on.. He knew the consequences of breaking the law in THAT country... But decided to break it anyway and got caught... Well tough doodoo... As a CEO he'd of said exactly the same thing to anyone of his employees before he got caught... If I'd of stole parts from Nissan he as CEO would use all the power of the law IN THAT COUNTRY where the crime occurred to prosecute... Well now the boots on the other foot... Carlos is to blame in one way or another and he is too scared and feable to face his own fate he created. He let happen and he covered up. Greedy people get caught eventually. One way or another. Just he's too scared to pay the fine.

Not got enough money? Look it up how much he raked in in buckets. Staggering.

This fine is for the tax office of Japan. The principle is to make the perps pay for the costs of justice, without reverting all burden on all the law-abiding tax payers.

Won't hurt the people at the top one bit, and they'll just do it again since clearly there is no serious punishment. A few will retire, with golden parachutes, and the new people lined up and waiting to do the same will take their place. Rinse. Repeat.

Its so obvious isn't, not only with the Nissan saga, look at the executives at Kobe Steel they fiddled the books for 40yrs, no single person got charged, the company copped a fine the Executives bowed "deeply" maybe they didn't have a gaijin to blame the problems on.

Everyone seems to be on about Karma and that it should sting for Nissan.

But we are talking here about bare 20 million dollars in fine...that will be pennies for them.

Now, among the Corona virus news this will be swept under the carpet.

They chose a good time for a settlement, I say!

nissan is a japanese operator with japanese directors , such a low fine and no japanese jailed ???. the world human rights group view this action very insufficient and inproper. Protest good people for humanities rights and fairness.

Now finish the job and release Kerry and apologise for him and Ghosn and pay them their dues plus a huge compensation.

On another hand. I read a comment above from Mr. Terry Brown which shocked me. How can someone be so vindictive and judgemental, assuming and justifying as he pleases.

Carlos Ghosn did not do anything wrong.

He is a hero to the industry.

His compensation package is very normal in such positions.

Bad mouthing him is not fair at all.
