No. of criminal offenses drops below 1.3 million for first time in 35 years

Safe to say the acts of politicians are not included in any of the numbers. Fraud, deceit, misappropriation all come to mind.

But crimes by dangerous foreigners has gone up, right? I mean, give us something to work with, NPA.

All these numbers always get fudged not only by type of occurrences but by specific geographical areas.

One example may not apply here but in the U.S. homicides are only reported as such if a person dies on the scene from the incident not on the way to the hospital.

So maybe thefts and violent crimes are not reported until everything is fully reviewed and it was determined that the crime was committed, just think about how many more are pending at this same exact time. I would say add 15% to this figure and you'll get the true numbers.

But that's just me I don't know anything about this.

Good news, but those numbers don't seem to add up: If it dropped by 86,000 to 1,120,474, then the previous year it's 1,120,474 plus 86,000 = 1,206,474 That's still below 1.3 million, so this cannot be the first time in 35 years it has dropped below 1.3 million. Maybe they mean it dropped below, not 1.3 but 1.2 million?

I'm generally skeptical of statistics gathered by police agencies.

It would be interesting to know how closely this correlates with the aging of the population. In which case the aggregate number has little meaning and we'd have to compare the age groups most involved in crime to see if the relative number of offenses at a given population is higher, lower or the same. Also we should look more closely at the type of crime, as there is a huge difference between a pinched bicycle and a stabbing.
