A 57-year-old woman stabbed her younger sister and her mother in her 80s, and then stabbed herself, at their apartment in Tokyo's Tachikawa, police said Saturday.
According to police, the younger sister died of stab wounds, while the suspect and her mother will survive. The two sisters lived with their mother, Fuji TV reported.
Police said that police received a call from the building security guard at around 3:30 p.m. Friday, reporting that blood was seeping out from under the front door of the apartment.
Police rushed to the scene and entered the unlocked apartment where they found the three women bleeding from stab wounds. Two bloodied knives were found at the scene.
They were taken to hospital where the younger sister, Kayoko Sekine, was pronounced dead.
The suspect had stab wounds to her neck and stomach while her mother had stab wound to her back. Police said the suspect was able to make a statement in which she said she stabbed her mother, younger sister and then tried to kill herself. She said she had been fighting with her younger sister.
Police said they will wait until the suspect recovers before questioning her more fully on the crime.

Not to nitpick, but given that the woman attacker stabbed herself, why should she be included in the count in the headline?? The headline leads one to believe that the attacker killed 1 and injured 2.
