A 40-year-old female bar manager was stabbed to death in Osaka's Minato Ward on Thursday night, police said Friday.

According to police, the manager of the bar, identified as Ayumi Sato, was found collapsed on the floor and bleeding from her stomach at around 8 p.m. by an employee arriving to start work. TBS reported that Sato was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said that Sato had been stabbed numerous times in the abdomen. TBS quoted police as saying there were signs of a struggle in the bar.

Police said they had received reports that Sato had been having trouble with a 75-year-old male customer and that the body of a man fitting his description was found in the grounds of a factory about two kilometers away on Friday morning.

Police said the man had apparently hanged himself.

That must have been trouble with a yak having an over priced tab or a girl problem.

That's a painful way to go and one must really wonder why someone needed to go that far.

"Sato had been having trouble with a male customer" Maybe he racked up a huge tab, and she told him not to come back.

This is just disgusting... is Japan becoming more violent, or are there just more stories being reported? I ask because there certainly seems to be a spate of stabbings in recent months.

RIP Ayumi Sato... what a waste of a life.

No yaks this time folks! This guy prolly owed her money for unpaid drinking mad 'entertainment'. A sad end, but ice been to these little bars in Osaka and it's not a pretty thing. A thousand yen per beer and 300 yen per karaoke song. It doesn't take long to rack up five or six maan, without including goatees visits. I'm sire this guy owed her a bundle and she asked him to pay up, so he just killed her and then offed himself so he wouldn't have to face the music or pay his bill. Case closed!

I agree. Only men should be stabbed in the abodmen.

The bit about the hanging wasn't in the original article. It was added after some of the comments.

Don't say the yak were not involved in some way. You never know. Just because he was found hung does not necessarily mean he hung himself.

Also, he may have needed money to pay debts to the yak., and it may well have been him trying to get money from her.

Even she may have been a yak.

This brief article is way too short to go ruling things out.

I work at a bar in the states and I am on my customers ALL the time to make sure they pay their tab. The house makes a get a credit card to keep the tab open. I don't need to run it at the end if they pay cash, are such practices not common in Japan?

Sounds like a regular drunk that racked up bills. He was denied entry or to be served. He was probably already drunk of sake when he arrived for a good time. Or the fact that he had a knife and being 75, it was premeditated. He could have had feelings for the manager...
