Pair arrested for assaulting man with wrench inside public toilet

Police in Kyoto said Tuesday they have arrested two suspects over an attack on a man inside a public toilet.

According to police, Kaichi Aioi, 21, a part-time worker from Sakyo Ward, and an unemployed 17-year-old youth from Shiga Prefecture’s Otsu City, are accused of attacking a 38-year-old man with a wrench at around 4:20 a.m. on May 9 in a public toilet in Kyoto’s Nakagyo Ward, Kyodo News reported.

The victim told police he was attacked as he was leaving the toilet and hit multiple times with a wrench. Police said he suffered minor injuries to his head due to bruising.

Police said the 17-year-old has admitted to the allegation, while the other suspect has remained silent.

I thought the same thing. Combini’s are open 24 hours with clean toilets and security cameras.

What was their motive? Was it for money? I just don't get these kids these days! The 21yo could find a job instead of hanging out with 17yo kids!

Not sure why they mention the 17 year old is unemployed. I presume because he has left school but it seems odd to mention.

@naturalboke, For Japanese junior high school is the last mandatory level of education as they can start working full time after graduating. Obviously, the 17 year old chose not to go to high school. Therefore, his status is unemployed.
