Parents arrested for abusing 5-year-old son with frying pan, saw

Police in Osaka said Friday have arrested a 33-year-old man and his 28-year-old wife on suspicion of abusing their 5-year-old son after they injured him with a frying pan and a saw.

According to police, Daisuke Omoto has pleaded not guilty, but his wife Ayano — who is the boy’s stepmother — has pleaded guilty to abusing him at their home in Kita Ward, Fuji TV reported. Police said the couple are suspected of repeatedly hitting the boy with a frying pan and cutting his cheek with a saw between Feb 20 and March 1.

The case came to light on March 1 when the boy was found wandering naked, wearing only his shoes, in the neighbourhood by a local resident who reported the incident to police.

At first, the boy, who had bruises all over his body, told police he had fallen off some playground apparatus but later said his father and mother had beaten him.

The couple also have a 3-year-old son but he showed no signs of having been abused, police said.

Right....the abused child had a different mother, so it was easier for her to beat the kid because it wasn't "hers"

I would recommend punishment in kind, repeated over and over, for a term to last no less than 10 years!

Oh my god! I can't help but feel that in a just world HIS parents would get some frying and cutting justice of their own. Disgusting

As the loving father of a 1and a half year old child, this both tears my heart out and makes me beyond furious.

the couple are suspected of repeatedly hitting the boy with a frying pan and cutting his cheek with a saw between Feb 20 and March 1.

They should be locked up and BOTH children taken away from them.

the boy was found wandering naked, wearing only his shoes,

They're monsters. Absolute monsters.

Monsters. What the hell is wrong with some people?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

As a father I'm speechless reading this.

When the roles are reversed and it's a step-father who does this to a child we never hear the end of how he should go to prison. I hope there are no double standards and they start feeling pity. Can't claim PPD for this one. Lock them BOTH up NOW, and get those kids to safety ASAP.

Can I have this child as my lovely little baby - I would cherish and love him from the deep of my heart ! Why world became so dark ?

When are the police and social services going to be given the right to enter homes so they can investigate these incidents?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Absolutely barbarous. To mete out justice with a frying pan upon a 5 year old is beyond belief.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

The father claims he is not guilty, so did he sit back and watch while his wife abused his child? Didn't he wonder why his child was covered in cuts and bruises?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

aly rustom - agreed should take both boys away. step mom obliviously do not know what love is. how could someone just love their own child but harm the others. step mom and dad should be punished hard.

This is atrocity is beyond belief! Poor child.

When I was in the USAF serving in Japan, I visited the orphanage I knew of and gave clothing and candy during the Easter and Christmas holidays. I was new to Japan and did not learn the language yet. I wish I did and I wish I would have gotten some background on these kids (if the staff could share the information). It would have encouraged me to do even more.

That said, if I could adopt this child in as my own and give him the parenting he deserves. The step-mother's abuse is barbaric. I will not judge the father since he did not admit to abusing the child however I find it difficult to fathom he could not recognize the bruises on his son. Hopefully the child's biological mother is emotionally and financially secure enough to take away custody.

I was an orphan and also abused. I lived through foster care and group homes with never being adopted due to dumb laws. In the end, I turned out pretty well professionally as an engineer and eventually owning my own firm. I hope this child will overcome his hardships as I did and that God Bless this child as he needs it. If I can saying anything to him, I would say, "Your scars are deep but you can rise above it and have children you would treat with love that you did not have."

Haidesu, referring the above comment, we can see that you are very passionate, and you have sent out a strong heart felt message. growing up in foster homes and institutions is a tough upbringing, there is a guy near me and he had a tougher upbringing, he was sexually abused with has had deep scars of there own, let allow the mental scars. but your right you can rise above all of these problems but it takes a strong person to do this, lets hope he gets taken into care where he can get some affection and love. may be she needs a bit of time with the camp drill Sargent, then she would understand what bulling is like!, or it could be that she was bullied and this is normal behaviour to her, well may be she needs to be taught that its wrong.

@Brian Wheway

I appreciate your kind words and want to make it clear I posted what I did not to garner attention to me. The abused child needs all the attention and love. I hope he does. On another note, you are correct the physical are one thing but the emotional scars are lifelong. I still struggle with them daily and can only thank God that I am in the professional and financial position I am in.

God Bless you and mostly God Bless this poor child.

Scum of the earth. Why do Japanese abuse children of former partners so badly. Seems like a common primordial commonality in Japan.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Oh to be left alone in a room with no windows with these people. Anyone else wish to join me teaching this filth the error of their ways?

News of crime against childrens, mainly by their own parents or guardian is very frequent in JT. Something is wrong in this society of pretenders.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Monsters! Please take that poor child away and never let him return. I do hope the both of them will get mental help, but never access to that poor child. And I hope the child finds a nice home with loving parents who will take care of him.

Stepchildren and children in one-parent homes are much more likely to be abused. Time magazine and other sources started reporting in the early 90's about the increased odds of violence when children live with a stepparent. Still, nothing much has been done to provide counseling or some kind of program to ease the transition for blended families.

Anyone here ever look up the stats for wherever it is you're from? Posts along the lines of 'only in Japan' or ' the Japanese have a severe child abuse problem' 'this society is wrong' can be seen here any day, but these things don't happen only in Japan. In the US only the most severe cases ever make the news.

" Over the past 10 years, more than 20,000 American children are believed to have been killed in their own homes by family members. The child maltreatment death rate in the US is triple Canada’s and 11 times that of Italy. Millions of children are reported as abused and neglected every year.”

Japan's child abuse cases are increasing, there's no mistake about that. However, the rates here don't justify 'only in Japan' posts. I say this not to 'defend' Japan, but to try and make people realize just how endemic it is everywhere. It's easy to read an article, think ' Wow, those Japanese' and go back to sleep...

Reinforces the concept that women like their own children and tolerate other's offspring so long as there is no perceived negative aspect in doing so.

Now, I have been saying how decadent and inhumane Japanese society has become and that stagnation is painting me sad... Well, the stagnation is over. It propels in getting worse.

Animals. Throw away the key.

Whether you are a stepparent or not, the only logic explanation to that is your behavior as a human being. I have met people who loved/loves their step kids as like their own. She married that guy for a reason but I am pretty much sure that LOVE is not one of them because if she loved him, she would care for that boy.
