Passenger killed after minivan fell into river may have been part of insurance fraud plan

A man who was killed after a minivan fell into a river in Saitama City in August may have been involved in a plot to commit car insurance fraud, police say.

According to police, the incident occurred the day after a sudden downpour known as “guerrilla rain.” A 20-year-old man who was seated in the back of the minivan died after the vehicle plunged into a river, Sankei Shimbun reported.

On Thursday, Saitama prefectural police arrested the driver, Yuto Mori, 20, a company employee from Kawaguchi City, and a 19-year-old male company employee who was also a passenger.

Police said that information supplied by others who knew the trio indicated that the suspects were planning to commit car insurance fraud. The suspects were reportedly friends of the deceased man. However, they called off their plan following the fatal accident and did not submit any insurance claims.

If no claim, not insurance fraud.

Not sure that logic is understood as logic.

It ca be an actual accident caused by "guerilla rain" or someone just make false confession caused by long hour of interogation.

If you keep your mouth shut, they have nothing.

Everyone always talks.

So they  did not submit any insurance claims there was a fatal accident and they lost a friend in said accident..

This sounds more like police words into the mouths of young people 20 year old and a 19 year old.

So the accident occurred in August it is now November. Have they been held in interrogation since then and it has taken 4 months to finally get a confession?

Conspiracy to commit fraud, even if not undertaken, is a crime

I’m still dealing with a car insurance claim after months and months. I’m totally innocent.

If you are a hustler, I recommend you don’t try it in japan.

This sort of criminal activity is the norm here in Florida, USA.

It's why we Floridians pay the HIGHEST Auto Insurance primiums in the country

(the insurance company told me).

While missing the insurance payout, this may still earn a Darwin Award (darwinawards.com).
