'Peeping Tom' police officer questioned after sneaking into house, secretly watching woman bathe

A police sergeant in Musashino, Tokyo, is being questioned over allegations that he sneaked into a woman’s home and secretly watched her bathe.

The 31-year-old sergeant is said to have trespassed into the woman’s home in Tokyo’s Nerima Ward last November, Fuji TV reported. After illegally entering the home, the “Peeping Tom” officer is accused of secretly watching the woman take a bath.

Investigators said they have discovered voyeuristic video recordings of other women on the sergeant’s smartphone, as well as photos taken up women's skirts in another camera.

The sergeant has since resigned from his position at Musashino Police Station.

I think he should have been promoted to the Vice Squad. Most definitely a man of high character.

Again I ask, no screening for mental health issues?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Another one?

FFS, don't they vet these jokers at all? Granted, we read about the weirdest of the weird, but they seem to hire some real a-holes in the Japanese police force. M

Let he who is without Sin cast the first stone!

Sheesh. It's been a while -- by Japanese standards, anyway -- since we had the last pervy police officer thieving panties or peeping, but here we are again.

so if j-people used the same logic as yours, then all foreigners are thieves and rapists because a few commit crimes. sounds logical to me!

All those things, and he's only being questioned? Why not arrested? I guess they are just saving themselves all the work because nothing would happen to him anyway.

Damn 'debakame' (or peeping Tom) police officer. Shame on you! ;‑)

2 ( +3 / -1 )

He was "keeping her safe". Perv.

We'd gone almost a week without one of these pervert cop articles. Nice to know things are back to normal. Where would JT be without J cops?

secretly watched her bath

I need some help here.

How does anyone SECRETLY watch someone BATHE? How did he know she was going to take a bath? Was the bathroom door open? Did he have a zoom lens? At what point did she notice this pervy police?

Anyway, well done to the woman for reporting it!!

Guy was a cop. Last time I checked, it was a cop's job to protect women from this kind of thing, not to participate...

Stone cast. BIG TIME....

Putting an entirely new spin on the term "close surveillance"...

11 ( +11 / -0 )

This is nothing surprising. The police are just corrupt PERIOD.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Ridiculous. Sure there are corrupt police officers in this country, and there definitely seem to be a number of pervs, but to extend that to all of them is no better than people who say all foreigners are criminals just because some of us are. If you are ok with being grouped in with foreigners who make us look bad, then by all means call all police corrupt. But if you don't like being grouped in with bad people when you've done nothing wrong, then you probably shouldn't do it to others.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

He should be arrested. Did he just resign so he could continue his Peeping Tom activities?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Oh !!! Why he was doing ??

I was a student exchange at Nihon University. One the students asked me to stand guard for the same thing that was happening. I waited and caught him steering in her bed room apartment. No air-conditioning so her Window door would be opened. I rushed to the window yelling to catch up. He escaped through very narrow Walls or must have jumped over the Walls! Very common among the university's in Tokyo. Again, no mental health services. Cheers. Geeno.

@ Stranger - Spot on!

I still think JapanToday should separate crime board to crime and police. Boards.

Japanese society has a particularly high rate of sexual deviancy and crime (molestation, stalking, stealing underwear etc.) so it is not really a mental health issue but rather a cultural issue and attitudes towards women that need to change (as pointed out by the UN recently).

Right you are. I know many fine police officers in Japan, and I have only been treated very kindly in every occasion (except when I couldn't talk my way out of that illegal turn).

Does it? Any numbers to support this?

Been awhile since there was an article like this. Okay so which is it? Drunk? Stressed out? Mental sickness?

Japan ranks fairly average for sexual assault but I think, if you lived in Japan you would know that statistics in Japan are potentially much more unreliable than other countries because of low reportage rates (culturally based fear of reporting for example).

But take a trip to Japan (I'm presuming you don;t live there judging from your comment) and ask around, read the news; ask, 'is sexual molestation on trains common here? Stalking? How about peeping toms, underwear snatchers, exploitation of young girls?" I think you can learn more from the people than statistics in Japan's case.

Protect and serving the underwear!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Seriously, you could hear a lot of news about Japanese police doing perverted things themselves.. They should be the ones who uphold the law, serve and protect the people, not the ones who perpetrate them. They should really have tough screening when it comes to their police force. This is the reasons why my girlfriend always says that the police here are inefficient..

Wow! Just, WOW!

Cop of the Week.

Imagine how terrifying it must have been for her to have realized that someone was watching her while she bathed and then to find out that this criminal was a cop. I often read comments on this site (not this time, thankfully) that treat peeping toms, voyeurs, underwear thieves, etc. as if their behavior is cause for a laugh. But for the person who's at the receiving end of this kind of criminal activity it must be terribly upsetting to know that someone invaded your personal space and privacy in such a deviant manner. Never mind the fear that they may return and that their actions may escalate. This type of behavior is considered one of the major building blocks of sexual predators and should be taken very seriously.

To be lumped alongside these loons in the Crime category is an insult to the dignity of any self-respecting criminal. Perversion and deviancy belong in JT's Entertainment category or preferably its own separate Hentai category.

"I was a student exchange at Nihon University. One the students asked me to stand guard for the same thing that was happening"

So you are saying that this female student asked you, a MAN, to WAIT in the apartment while she was NAKED in the bathroom just in case ANOTHER MAN comes in through the WINDOW that she has just LEFT OPEN.

A real man would instead tell the female student to CLOSE THE WINDOW when you are NAKED IN THE BATHROOM...

In case people get the wrong idea!!

It's been a while since we saw the j cops breaking Into houses to see something their perverted eyes should not see.

Sounds like he couldn't get to Soaplands & took a shot closer to home. So sick on many levels!

These perving stories are great!

How did he get caught? How did investigators discover his smartphone recordings of other women?

Serrano.. with search earrant and his Facebook? Pervert are very proud of his action that they keep and display in public media.

@sillygirl

no screening for mental health issues

This is not a mental health issue. A straight guy wants to see a woman naked, that is not crazy. The peeping tom part is just general impoliteness. It is not polite to see a woman naked without buying her dinner first. ; )

Are there no porn sites in Japan?
